Fortunately, it appears this new passport design is a "limited edition" only available to in-person applicants at the DC passport office. Anyone applying elsewhere (i.e., nearly everyone) would instead receive the prior established standard design, which DC applicants can also request:
How to Avoid Receiving a Trump Passport
• Renew Online or by Mail: Most US passport renewals are done online or by mail. These methods will not issue the Trump-themed passport, so you will receive the standard design.
• Apply Outside Washington, DC: If you are applying for a new passport in person, choose a passport acceptance facility outside the DC office, such as libraries or clerk of court offices. Only the Washington Passport Agency will issue the limited-edition Trump passport by default.
• Explicitly Request the Standard Passport: If you must visit the Washington Passport Agency, inform the passport specialist at check-in that you want the standard passport, not the commemorative design.

Additional Considerations
• The Trump-themed passport is not mandatory; standard passports remain available for all applicants who follow the above methods.

You feel guilty because you think deep down you can hang around for his “potential”. Don’t.

New-Shake7638:
My therapist told me that often, the potential you see in others is more of a reflection on what your potential would be if you were in their shoes. It’s not actually their potential, it’s yours.

Waiting for someone to live up to what YOU are capable of is a losing game.

WatercressDizzy228:
I think you just changed my brain fundamentally. Oof.

kylielapelirroja:
Omg, same.
This is the same advice as “you don’t see the world as it is, you see it as you are.” Which also changed my life.

Or if that still seems too risky, you can remove the pit by pushing your thumbs against the other side:

If you can at least cut the avocado in half around the pit safely, use a folded towel to hold the half with the pit, lightly tap the heel of a chef's knife blade against the pit just hard enough to embed it, then twist to remove.

Pretty darn close to the famous 27% Crazification Factor: kfmonkey.blogspot.com/2005/10/lunc...
Excerpt from a blog post by @JohnRogers.bsky.social:

John: Hey, Bush is now at 37% approval. I feel much less like Kevin McCarthy screaming in traffic. But I wonder what his base is --

Tyrone: 27%.

John: ... you said that immmediately, and with some authority.

Tyrone: Obama vs. Alan Keyes. Keyes was from out of state, so you can eliminate any established political base; both candidates were black, so you can factor out racism; and Keyes was plainly, obviously, completely crazy. Batshit crazy. Head-trauma crazy. But 27% of the population of Illinois voted for him. They put party identification, personal prejudice, whatever ahead of rational judgement. Hell, even like 5% of Democrats voted for him. That's crazy behaviour. I think you have to assume a 27% Crazification Factor in any population.

Heard a rebroadcast of the @waywordradio.org episode mentioning "fnēosung" as an Old English word for "sneeze", thought I'd point out that's related to the Old English "fnese" which evolved into "sneeze" via misreading or misprinting the initial "f" as a "ſ" (long-s), per the OED:
Oxford English Dictionary excerpt:

sneeze, v.
(sni:z)
Forms: 5 snese, 6-8 sneese (6 scniese), 6- sneeze, 7 sneez.

[app. an alteration of FNESE v., due to misreadin gor misprinting it as 'ſnese', after the initial combination of fn- had become unfamiliar.
Fnese had app. gone out of use early in the 15th cent., its place being mainly supplied by NEEZE v. The adoption of sneeze was probably assisted by its phonetic appropriateness; it may have been felt as a strengthened form of neeze...]

"We must do away with the absolutely specious notion that everybody has to earn a living. It is a fact today that one in ten thousand of us can make a technological breakthrough capable of supporting all the rest. The youth of today are absolutely right in recognizing this nonsense of earning a living.

"We keep inventing jobs because of this false idea that everybody has to be employed at some kind of drudgery because, according to Malthusian-Darwinian theory, he must justify his right to exist. So we have inspectors of inspectors and people making instruments for inspectors to inspect inspectors.

"The true business of people should be to go back to school and think about whatever it was they were thinking about before somebody came along and told them they had to earn a living."

Always be motivated by what you DO want, rather than by what you don't want. It's not enough to know what you're against; rather, what are you FOR? And on a related note:

Reminds me a bit of my maternal grandparents' cran-apple-orange relish:
CRAN-APPLE-ORANGE RELISH

(Prepare the day before serving, or earlier)

1 pkg. raw cranberries, washed & sorted;
3 red apples, unpeeled, quartered & cored;
1 whole orange, unpeeled, quartered & de-seeded;
1 cup sugar.

Grind fruit together in a meat grinder (blender or food processor might work, haven't tried). You're going for a fine granular texture, coarser than puree but finer than chunks, something like couscous or quinoa. Put a cake pan under the grinder to capture juice drippings and pour back in.

Stir in 1 cup sugar (more/less to taste). Put in glass or plastic bowl (not ceramic), cover and place in fridge overnight. Can be kept in fridge up to 2 weeks at least.

Quote from Carl Sagan:
"One of the saddest lessons of history is this: If we've been bamboozled long enough, we tend to reject any evidence of the bamboozle. We're no longer interested in finding out the truth. The bamboozle has captured us. It's simply too painful to acknowledge, even to ourselves, that we've been taken. Once you give a charlatan power over you, you almost never get it back."

Tweet from Maréchal Pinard @skantstank64:
yfw plane/train autism existed in ancient greece but it was with ships instead

Accompanied by an image of a book passage translating an anecdote from Heraclides of Pontus thus:

"25. Thrasyllus of the deme of Aexone suffered a strange new form of madness. He left the city and went down to live at the Piraeus. He imagined that all the ships coming into harbour there were his own. He made a list of them, attended when they departed once more, and was delighted when they returned safely to the harbour. For a long time he continued to suffer from this mania. But his brother, returning from Sicily, handed him over to a doctor to be cured, and in this way he recovered from the illness. He often recalled his mad hobby and used to say that he had never been so happy as when he rejoiced at the sight of ships which did not belong to him returning safely."

Look at my Gatling gun. This is the kind of gun they used to put PLANES on. It wasn't a case of, 'Oh, we got this jet fighter, it kinda needs something besides missiles and bombs and shit, let's strap this thing on.' NO. It was a case of a guy making a gun SO awesome, that he just stepped back, and said, 'This shit needs to fly.' And everyone else is like, 'You can't make a gun fly!' And the first guy is all like, 'Fuck you, yes I can. I will strap a PLANE to this GUN.' And everyone is like, 'You mean strap the gun to a plane?' And the first guy is like, 'No, man. I am strapping the plane to the gun. The plane is an ACCESSORY.' And then everyone's minds were blown. Like, there was some serious mind blowing going on there. Ears were bleeding.
