yeah honestly it surprised me when i first started writing on ao3 too!! but now even i write 20k chapters sometimes… it’s just whatever feels right for your story :)

i think there’s no hard rule, it’s just however long you think it should be! my own rule of thumb is that each chapter should be roughly the same length, but sometimes it takes a few chapters for the length to stabilize!

unforeseen problem with writing a fic with no outline is you don’t know where the fic should end (because you have no plan), so it just keeps going on and on forever until what was supposed to be 5k is now 10k and you STILL don’t have an ending

heard there were a lot of academics on this app, and well, i am some what of an academic myself as long as writing dissertations on kpop and bnb qualifies :))
