Find it strange that no one wants to touch the Shining because Kubrick's is such a hard act to follow, but there's so many versions of Carrie when the original is arguably just as hard to beat. The prom scene is some of the finest editing I've seen in a horror film youtu.be/zOcZgcs6l3A?...

Yeah never seen him be bad. Closest he got to me not liking something was Doctor Sleep but I wasn't too keen on the book anyway

Someone tell me if new Carrie is worth it. Rewatched the original movie a couple of years ago and it holds up really well

In the episode, we were asked to count the number of bunny rabbits with the doctor. The number was 4. This means that 4 missing episodes have been found and they are hiding it from us because the BBC hates the fans!!!! *Mouth starts frothing*

The reception to Doctor who ai videos is confusing me. I'm yet to see a single one that doesn't look and sound exactly like Space Babies: poor pacing, wooden acting, unnatural mouth movements. And yet everyone hated Space Babies but love ai slop? Where have everyone's standards gone?

I personally think NHS mental health services that are actually functional and properly funded is a better idea than making it so people with anxiety thats serious enough to get granted disability benefits suddenly have no money.... actually that sounds catastrophic. Why would anyone want that?

Watching high concept romcom Sliding Doors. I love how in the 90s a character losing their job is considered a minor inconvenience whereas now it would be "THIS IS THE WORST THING EVER! THE WORLD IS LITERALLY ENDING!"

Watching the shining again for the first time in forever. One thing I appreciate is the incredibly slow fade across between two scenes sorta making it look like ghosts from the previous scene are in the current one. Happens all the time, it's a really weird choice but makes it feel even more eerie

Took me an entire year but finally watched Long Story Short. I wasn't too struck on the pilot but afterwards it just blossoms. Same wacky energy of BoJack Horseman but with a more grounded framework and RBW's dialogue is just addictive.

I did think it was an important point that we know basically nothing about why Bear liked Nikki to begin with beyond she's a woman and has talked to him more than once. If I hadn't had it spoiled then I'd have guessed where it was going the second he bought the wish willow

Finally watched Obsession. I don't know if this is a hot take or not but I think Bear might be the villain of the movie

Morris is the benchmark by which you measure satire. It's a lesson people are still refusing to learn and especially pertinent with online commentators somehow managing to redeem the career of Chris hansen

Watching Pyramids of Mars for the first time in years. It's a lot cornier than I remember. I love the scene where Dr Warlock meets the obviously possessed Scarman and he's talking to him as if basically nothing's wrong before he gets killed by a mummy. I wanted to do a panto shout "he's behind you!"

A woman stumbles across a guy she knew at school on a dating app, and as she begins dating him, everyone in her life begins to disappear and she's the only one that remembers them. Early stages ATM. It's a bit like a cross between Bridget Jones Diary and Backrooms

Fyi: I haven't watched it because I know it'll make me furious but if people are coming out of viewing thinking this is what happens, it indicates a complete failure in communicating the facts.

The most damaging thing about that ADHD documentary is people coming out with a positive opinion saying this: "Well it's right we question it, we shouldn't just jump to medication" That is literally not what happens after an ADHD diagnosis. They go through various ways to manage without medication

So I ended up watching Alley cats. It is a failure, but a pretty fascinating one. Half of it is his usual blue humour, half is sentimental musings on death, and these elements clash so violently. It's as if he just wasn't confident that people would accept sincerity without the edgy humour.

The reason I just don't believe AI is inevitable is that the only marketing strategy the industry is adopting is "Waaa! Waaaa! People who don't like us are mean!" I'm so glad they're failing at simple marketing this badly. www.businessinsider.com/anthropic-ce...

Well Binface was never gonna win but it was a nice dream. I think he should have an honourary role in parliament - every chance he gets, he reminds everyone about how representing people in parliament should be the actual goal of a politician, not just self aggrandisement youtu.be/9tob5RlhBpc?...

They ignored this point because they have a political motive - they don't want money going into means of helping people with it. This is not an honest conversation and shouldn't be treated as such.
0110
Stuart Hardy @stubagful.bsky.social · 12/08/2026
The political conversation around ADHD at the moment is completely braindead. This article had to go through the writer's head and multiple editors - someone will have pointed out that OBVIOUSLY you shouldn't take medication for a condition if you don't have it. They pretended this wasn't an issue.

Robert McKee gives you a good grounding. Joseph Campbell's hero with a thousand faces Even something as basic as Save the cat. Yorgos Lanthimos has definitely read that cause a 'save the cat' moment happens in all his English language movies
