stuartcpw.bsky.social @stuartcpw.bsky.social · 18/09/2026Have you got the app? That always seems to work for me. Very occasionally have glitches with the website. 100
stuartcpw.bsky.social @stuartcpw.bsky.social · 18/09/2026Lovely illustrations. At risk of making it cluttered, my brain finds it easier to take in information if there’s little short pointers between the text and relevant area of the bird (even though I know most of the feather tracts). I can imagine that’s personal preference though. 010
stuartcpw.bsky.social @stuartcpw.bsky.social · 29/08/2026Really enjoying the podcast series - and this episode was fascinating. Thanks for making it. 010
stuartcpw.bsky.social @stuartcpw.bsky.social · 17/08/2026I think there’s too much AI enhancement in that second image - it’s halfway to becoming a Wheatear. 000

stuartcpw.bsky.social @stuartcpw.bsky.social · 09/08/2026If you don’t mind camping, Craignure campsite on Mull has glorious views back across the sound to the Mainland - cottages there too. Also like Port Charlotte Islay and if you want less remote North Berwick is stunning. 100
stuartcpw.bsky.social @stuartcpw.bsky.social · 01/08/2026This is also worth a read. Similar but by bike. 110
stuartcpw.bsky.social @stuartcpw.bsky.social · 27/07/2026Sad loss. As a teenager, i loved his writing especially BOLBBB & Gone Birding. Really helped me figure out my identity on the “dude - birder - twitcher” spectrum. He captured something accessible, active and fun in between cosy RSPB magazine and “trainspotter” media stereotypes at either end. 010
stuartcpw.bsky.social @stuartcpw.bsky.social · 26/07/2026 Thanks. the magnetic adapter looks very convient but presumably doesn’t affect shake much? What software is it and do you recommend video over photos for less shake? V impressive results. Thanks 100

Dont know if it still goes on. www.birdguides.com/news/hundred...birdguides.comHundreds of Gyr Falcons released into the Scottish countrysideScottish Natural Heritage has sensationally issued a licence to allow the practice, despite local residents' grave concerns. 000
stuartcpw.bsky.social @stuartcpw.bsky.social · 14/07/2026I wondered if an escaped juv Gyr x Peregrine hybrid. They seem quite popular with falconers and variable with some pale birds but I can’t find any flight photos to compare to. 100
stuartcpw.bsky.social @stuartcpw.bsky.social · 14/07/2026That’s an unusual Peregrine - never seen such a pale one. Looks chunky too. Is it from a local nest or could it be a hybrid? 100
stuartcpw.bsky.social @stuartcpw.bsky.social · 14/07/2026Recommend these but if you don’t have them handy a thin bit of plastic with a half centimetre slit cut from one edge can lever them out intact. 000
stuartcpw.bsky.social @stuartcpw.bsky.social · 14/07/2026Are there warning signs? I can’t say I’ve noticed them… it’s been your posts that have made me aware not to drive onto the shingle. (Which I’m very grateful for 👍) 100

stuartcpw.bsky.social @stuartcpw.bsky.social · 20/03/2026I wish the UK had put economic sanctions in place against the Israeli state years ago as soon as it was clear their response was disproportionate, rather than being an enabler. I don’t understand why this isn’t being discussed. I don’t think it’s too late to do this now - better late than never. 010
