I can't remember the last time I saw a jay. Lots of crows, rooks, jackdaws and magpies but I only recall definitely seeing a raven once, a few weeks ago from the South top of Ragleth Hill, when it identified itself by croaking.

At fast food places like motorway services I always head to Greggs for coffee as it seems a bit better and they don't ask for your name. I'm not really a connoisseur and drink americano when out and about. It's not a great way of drinking coffee but I wouldn't dare ask for an espresso.

We used to be bussed to another local school to use their pool. One day we got dragged to a special assembly where Mr Ward, the PE teacher, harangued is about a similar deposit that was found at the bottom (sorry) of the pool after we'd been (sorry again) there.

In my youth, over 50 years ago, I worked in several parts of the British building trade. A cook would come on site at about 10am to cook a second breakfast of fried eggs, bacon, beans and so on. It was a well established custom then but I don't know if it is still a thing.
