I am not a Jew but I think what the Greens have done is appalling.

Is the playing or putting down that causes division, hence the Scottish independence surge since English exceptionalism took hold in the UK.

Post like this from "grandpa mick" only weaken support for the FoM cause. It shows how the author doesn't understand the UK and the likelihood of the disintegration of the UK. The Irish have a national identity as do those in the EU. It's the working together of these nationalities that is strength.

It took 16 yrs for the UK to join last time, and that was with, on the whole, all parties agreement. Can see this time it will take at least 25 yrs as the EU is far bigger and they will not want a repeat of Brexit. The only deal will be on a timetable and sequencing of actions.

Any country should encourage a skilled youth workforce that allows them to continue to improve and adapt to the work required. In the early 80's when I worked for BAe they celebrated closing their apprentice training, years later they were forced to reopen them. It was always short sighted.

Does this mean we can deport all the brexit MP's and ex MP's who now have a second passport like JRM

My grandfather who worked in the East end of London in the 1920's and 30's certainly didn't feel safe when idiots like him marched through in their black shirts.

He would't be able to justify the statistics he quoted in the GB news interview. In my view he is therefore incapable of holding public office if he ignores the facts. The RNLI has one purpose to save lives! The called out is by the coastguards, again he does not understand any chain of command.

It doesn't surprise me. I remember how shocked I was when I was in my 20's when my mother told me other parents asking why she let me (at 8 yrs) go to play with an asian lad. None of the other kids had a problem with him when at school. How blind we were to people's prejudices in the 60's.

5th column would be a better (and correct usage) to describe these blackshirted balaclava covered thugs of the far right. These reform councillors who support them and call for defunding the RNLI are totally unfit for public office.

I voted against devolution in Scotland at the first vote. I beleived that the UK government should govern for the benefit of all, oh was I mistaken. Then there were few SNP MP's. Years of Thatcherism destroyed the conservatives in Scotland and the Brexit vote destroyed the Scots trust in the UK gov.

Am amazed at the number of people over 60 a) beleive everything on social media and b) fall for the most outlandish suggestions. In this report one hopes they lose their driving licence as they definitely should not operate any machinery with the public about.

We should call them what they are fascist blackshirts thugs. The same who thought they could March down Cable Street London. They are the present day thugs my parents generation fought against during the second world war.

Seams a shame they didn't run the train into a sidings and everyone had then to identify themselves. Surely there's a bylaws about wearing balaclavas on public transport.

The real question is " what would it take for Carney to ask the UK to rise to the challenge, to pick up the phone to the EU and say, 'this matters to us, and we need to create the process for the UK to bring us back into 🇪🇺" thing is he probably has but they ignored him then, UK's loss Canada's gain.

To many politicians blamed austerity on the UK being in the EU, like Reese Mogg and cheaper food and clothes etc., no wonder many struggling uk residents voted the way they were told that would improve their position.

Stuart @stu8.bsky.social · 26/08/2026
From at least 2010 more and more voted for ukip, so don't see that the ordinary voter didn't care, they were just lied to and ukip wasn't held to account. But this is all history now, if you want to be in the EU the UK will have to join the EU not trying to get special deals here there and there.
100
Stuart @stu8.bsky.social · 26/08/2026
The problem is even before 2016 more UK voters were voting for UKIP because, to many in power, they preferred to blame the EU than their own failings. so we are left with the current situation. We are where we are irrespective of any perceived illegal action, arguing this will not change anything.

Well at least I know it worked on my phone, as it didn't work last time they tested it.

The problem is those in gov have never had to apply for anything, it's been given to them on a plate and who they know. They should approach it as a job interview. You want a job, you prepare and discuss what you can bring to the compamy, how you can benefit all. Not what you can get out of it.

No I am bored with various UK politicians and commentors dreaming up new schemes which are only viable in their minds.

Stuart @stu8.bsky.social · 09/08/2026
I must say I'm totally bored with this fudging around the EU. Either apply to join or stay out, can't see anything good will ever come about this dancing around the question. We need to show the EU what they will gain by having us as full members, and stop talking just on what we will gain.

Often think this is why the UK still is a leading light in sciences which relies on an open and collaborative discussion and why elsewhere we fall behind as they think to get on you need to climb over everyone else.

From what I understand is businesses have moved one and definitely don't want a halfway house they may need to one again from. So it's back into the EU or where they are now. Depends on the industry but many want to move back to the EU.

Lets not forget Guido would have been 90 today! There still lots of people over 90 today so this really is in living memory. I read these post around a birthday. Today my brother was 70 so this all happens within the 20 before my brother was born. Are we really happy to be be reliving this.

Think Bojo suddenly realised the problem when there was all the talk of being on WTO rules. Personally I did not trust any of the leave propaganda as they implied they wanted WTO without knowing what that was.

Think you are comparing apple and pears. The UK border guards have a wider range to restrict access than the EU guards.

Everyone in the UK was told what they were voting for but the leave promoters called the remain description project fear. The called theirs sunlit uplands. If you voted leave many now know they were lied to. Those who voted remain know the truth.

You may think that but to me it certainly reads that you feel the EU are punishing the UK by take back previously held rights.

Do you ever read what you write here? You have ofter said the EU is punishing the UK by not allowing a discussion on what you propose.

Stuart @stu8.bsky.social · 26/07/2026
Most Brits I know living in the EU have given up on the UK rejoining as this repeated 'the EU is punishing us' has worn thin, and know the UK needs to fundamentally change and rid itself of the bending of rules attitude. Without whole heartily accepting the EU they will sit on the side lines.

I don't understand this 90/180 problem. Like I used to drive at 100mph on motorways, now they have these cameras and they are punishing me. No, they are only enforcing the rules, if you want to stay in a EU country longer than 90 days then you alway should have registered there. Like all in the EU

Stuart @stu8.bsky.social · 23/07/2026
Not to mention many who could vote in europe did not receive the voting papers in time to return them to be counted. Also a large number of commonwealth citizens on uk visas were allowed to vote to. Seamed the whole who could vote was skewed to suit a leave vote.

No the exceptionalism of a few English people who give the rest a hard time.
200
Stuart @stu8.bsky.social · 12/07/2026
English exceptionalism has been shown to be clinically insane. Until you understand that, there is no hope for England to rejoin the EU. No need to hold the rest of the UK back.

Like the swiss/EU border, get real.

Stuart @stu8.bsky.social · 12/07/2026
If that's the case then no problem but I think there are a number of crossing. Lots of people stop to take a picture as they cross into Scotland.
110
Stuart @stu8.bsky.social · 12/07/2026
It called the cheviot hills, a natural barrier with nowhere near the number of crossing per mile as the Irish border.
110
Stuart @stu8.bsky.social · 11/07/2026
So Scotland voting 60%+ to remain in the EU wasn't dragged out of the EU by the English votes!!! And an English nationalist government of reform isn't trying to close the Scottish and Welsh parliament.

Stuart @stu8.bsky.social · 11/07/2026
How little you know of the history of the UK. Scots have a separate education system, legal system as well as culture. You obviously have not researched any of this, so best to leave it there.
110
Stuart @stu8.bsky.social · 11/07/2026
The UK is fairly unique as its a country and a union of 4 separate countries. One country should not be able to determine what happens against the will of the other countries. Your arguments are the best recruiting argument for independence.
