Last night recap: The drow invaded Embla. Fungal forests are rotting. A haunted moon shard is calling. The awakened tree took up needlework. The players? Lost in the dark. Me? Just a DM holding the world together with vibes and cave moss. #DnD #RiseOfTheDrow #TTRPG

Consequences tied to player decisions. Big or small they should change the narrative because PCs are impactful. It’s their story after all.

Here's me frantically writing session notes while society collapses in 4K “Will the players notice this NPC represents my fear of societal decay? Nah, they’ll probably just seduce it.” As Lolth is my witness If my party dies, it’ll be from psychic damage I caused. Not the economy. #DMlife #TTRPG

I had to turn away a player for the Rise of the Drow game because they admitted they wanted to use pirated content. How anyone can do that with a clear conscience is beyond me. These people don't know (or care) about the struggle of content creators.

Interrogation scenes getting a little too intense? Keep it chill! Check in with players, set some boundaries, and focus on the drama, not the discomfort. Tension is fun, stress is not! #TTRPG #GMtips

One mechanic I really love is the torch timer in Shadowdark RPG. Torches burn in real time during combat and gameplay. The passage of time expands and contracts a bit in Shadowdark depending on what the characters are doing, but the torch is always there to add time pressure and encourage fast play.

The world feels like it’s cracking at the edges, but tonight I’m building a world where heroes rise, laughter echoes in the dark, and the dice offer a kind of hope. Escapism? Maybe. But sometimes, it’s the only kind that works. #TTRPG #DMlife

Earth Day reminds me this planet is home; not a resource. It’s a day to reflect, protect, and reconnect. Small acts matter: pick up litter, plant something, tread lighter. We’re not separate from nature. We are nature. 🌍🌿 #EarthDay

Absolutely, those moments are some of the best! It’s amazing how NPCs can become real parts of the story when players invest in them. It makes the world feel alive, and it’s a beautiful reminder of the power of roleplaying.

DM Amy J @strytllr.bsky.social · 21/04/2025

Sometimes I think TTRPGs should come with a warning: may cause extreme attachment to imaginary people. Anyone else in too deep with their characters/NPCs? #ttrpg

DM/GMing is a craft. You won’t master it in one session, or even ten. But every game you run, every choice you make, every moment you improvise you get better. More confident. More creative. More you. Keep running the game. The only way to grow is to play. #dnd #ttrpg #dming #gmwisdom

DM Amy J @strytllr.bsky.social · 16/04/2025

Most DMs don’t need better rules they need better vibes. You’re not running a war sim, you’re hosting collaborative storytelling with dice. Stop clutching your monster stat blocks like the Constitution and learn to read the room. #D&D #dungeonmastering

DM Amy J @strytllr.bsky.social · 15/04/2025

Wow… turning your back on Greyhawk like that? Zagyg is weeping. I hope your other book brought a wand of forgiveness, because you just failed your Will save against nostalgia betrayal. May the Circle of Eight judge you accordingly.

DM Amy J @strytllr.bsky.social · 15/04/2025

Honestly, I think you should always speak your mind. You deserve to take up space and express how you feel—especially when something matters to you. It’s not an inconvenience, it’s being human. 💪
