Eastgate, Totnes, Devon. An iconic feature of Totnes. It burnt down in 1990. The town rushed to rebuild - but found that there were no plans, or detailed photos of the lost building. So the Town Council went to Disneyland & copied a similar enclosed bridge […] [Original post on mastodonapp.uk]

Pulpit, St John's Church, Chipping Sodbury. Impressive. But it's odd, in that it faces across the church, rather than facing the congregation. #photography #pulpit #StJohns #ChippingSodbury

A 'bell wheel', hanging on the wall of St. John's church, Chipping Sodbury. Apparently, it is attached to a church bell inside a belfry. The bell rope wraps around the outer groove of the wheel, allowing ringers to swing the bell through a full 360-degree […] [Original post on mastodonapp.uk]

Lake Nemi - a volcanic crater lake - at dusk. Photo taken from the Citta of Nemi (where I ate a memorable Linguini Al Funghi). Lazio. This was where Julius Caesar had his summer pad & where Caligula staged elaborate naval battles, #photography #Nemi #Lazio #Caesar #Linguini

Chapmans Pool, Isle of Purbeck, Dorset. I might have got a better picture of the pool, if I had a better head for heights. I'm intrigued by that promontory, off in the distance. It seems to be pointing in the wrong direction. #ChapmansPool #IsleOfPurbeck #Dorset #coast
