Just something silly I decided to try as a test for per-object animations. Normally in Photex, all models share the same animation and frame and cannot be controlled independently. That changes now. No blending between animations as of yet, but that's something I may look into in a later version.

Been improving the bloom shader in TerminalFury. You have a lot of control now, being able to specify exactly how much bloom a texture can emit. All "bright" pixels bloom by default, but can be scaled through JSON files. Unfortunately a lot of manual tuning is needed, but it's powerful.

Getting more of the GLB/glTF spec implemented in TerminalFury. Not quite there yet, not drawing points or lines, and PBR doesn't blend our vertex colors correctly, but I'm getting there.

Got a prototype Vulkan 1.2 renderer running, it's not really fully functional yet, lot of stuff doesn't draw, performance is ass (for now), shaders are broken, but it works.

Ugh, honestly... Fuck Vulkan. Tried to get it working myself, and I feel exhausted and burned out after just getting a triangle. They didn't design this API to be human-friendly. Dunno how anyone understands it let alone makes anything with it. Makes me feel like a worthless, stupid cunt.

I know I keep going up in OpenGL versions and such... but now I'm even seriously considering going for Vulkan 1.0. It's more widely supported now than OpenGL 4.6 w/ Bindless Texturing, so I'd regain some compatibility. But, the serious amount of work required is giving me pause for the moment being.

Been slowly cracking away at the next version of TerminalFury. I've decided to go "Fuck it" and go whole-hog with OpenGL 4.6, using Bindless Textures. Unfortunately that means the GTX 600 series (out since 2012) is now minimum. I've got the game running at a nearly steady 1000fps on my RTX 5060ti.

Would people be OK with me bumping the GL requirement to OpenGL 4.5, in order to squeeze every last bit of performance I can out of TerminalFury? I'm hitting too many snags with OpenGL 3.3. Caveat being, anything older than a GTX 400 series (Fermi) card wouldn't be able to run the game anymore.

Re-Uploaded TerminalFury 0.3, built the Linux AppImage in WSL under an older Ubuntu base (24.04 LTS), hopefully it'll let it run on a broader range of systems.

I realize that the Linux AppImage doesn't work for some systems due to GLIBC being too new. However, GLIBC is blacklisted in LinuxDeploy (the tool I use to build the AppImage) This is why I hate trying make Linux binaries, it's a nightmare to release something that just works across every distro.

To give myself something to do, I've gone an implemented controller vibration support to TerminalFury. So, when you get hit, fire a weapon, use your afterburners, or set off a large explosion, you get some force feedback.

The Linux build of TFury is coming along. Fixed the crashes & bizarre behaviours I've come across so far. Have some case-sensitivity issues to sort out with PODs. After that, must figure out how to package this thing; I have no clue how Flatpaks or AppImages work. It'll likely be an AppImage though.
