Strider @striderthewriter.bsky.social · 06/10/2026Sadly, Kuzmin died far too young in 2012, at only 48. Just like with many russian musicians from the soviet/post-soviet punk, rock and metal scene 000
Strider @striderthewriter.bsky.social · 06/10/2026Then the sound changed completely. Светлячок first appeared on the home-recorded 1995 mini-album Слепой дождик, then opened Девочка и рысь in 1996: warmer, acoustic, almost childlike music, including themes like Alice in wonderland. 100
Strider @striderthewriter.bsky.social · 06/10/2026The connection to Letov was not just "same scene". In 1994 they met again; Letov later put Kuzmin’s Мы идём в тишине on Солнцеворот and В Ленинских Горах on Невыносимая лёгкость бытия. 100
Strider @striderthewriter.bsky.social · 06/10/2026In 1988 Kuzmin, Letov and Kuzya UO recorded together in Omsk at GrOb Records. In a few days came the raw early material around Кучи в ночи and Кончились патроны. basically Чёрный Лукич at his most Siberian-punk. 100
Strider @striderthewriter.bsky.social · 06/10/2026“Чёрный Лукич” is a little misleading as a band name: it gradually became Kuzmin’s own nickname/project name. He started in 1986 with Спинки мента in Novosibirsk, inside the same Siberian underground as Yanka Dyagileva, Egor Letov and Kuzya UO. youtu.be/VFIbjhzVSv0youtu.beСпинки Мента — ДождьYouTube video by onlyashur 100
Strider @striderthewriter.bsky.social · 06/10/2026back from the grave with a new post! youtu.be/uE9EVTCA9Io I introduce to you, Чёрный Лукич! A strange little branch of Siberian punk, built around Vadim “Dima” Kuzmin, who recorded with Egor Letov and Kuzya UO at GrOb Records. This is Светлячок, probably my favourite song of his. #music #artyoutu.beСветлячокYouTube video by Чёрный Лукич - Topic 110

Strider @striderthewriter.bsky.social · 01/04/2026This is such a cool take on psychic abilities. not just a classic telepath, it feels like partial assimilation of thought, which is way more interesting (and creepy). I especially love the idea that the "voice" is just a constructed illusion working as an interface to make communication digestible- 120

Strider @striderthewriter.bsky.social · 18/03/2026Ironically, those technical limitations created a sound that feels decades ahead, almost like proto-keygen or demoscene music, yet completely by accident. If the gear had been any "better" (more linear amps, higher-fidelity tape), it likely would’ve sounded cleaner and far less alive. 100
Strider @striderthewriter.bsky.social · 18/03/2026The warm, uneven harmonics were probably due to Soviet transistors and tubes with inconsistent manufacturing tolerances, which meant that no two amps behaving quite the same. Combine that with primitive tape machines, and you get that tape-saturated bloom and rounded high end. 100
Strider @striderthewriter.bsky.social · 18/03/2026Credit to commenter on the video [davioloplatinum7065]: They likely pushed low-grade amps, speakers, and pickups way past their limits, resulting in this fragile, sputtering saturation that feels more like a dying circuit than controlled overdrive. 100

Strider @striderthewriter.bsky.social · 27/02/2026I think Shevchenko is/was happy to know that KINO wasn´t forgotten, but actually got much more famous beyond the soviet perimeter during those times there was a genuine fear that with the ending of the soviet union that music would of faded into the past Post-soviet eastern europe was also no joke 000
Strider @striderthewriter.bsky.social · 27/02/2026Formed as Вторая Серия in 1992, Shevchenko mimicked Tsoi’s voice to preserve his presence. It was meant to be one recording, became two albums, never officially released. Bootlegs and non-permitted redistributions and sale killed the project in 1993. 100
Strider @striderthewriter.bsky.social · 27/02/2026youtu.be/TWdrMBpMUJs I found a forgotten KINO tribute album, "Я смотрю кино (Памяти Виктора Цоя)" recorded in 1992, just after Viktor Tsoi’s death & the USSR’s collapse. A grief project that got bootlegged, shut down, erased. Strider @striderthewriter.bsky.social · 08/01/2026Stalin was referred to as a "fascist"... Given my family history (Russian Revolution, Holodomor, Holocaust), that kind of historical revisionism, combined with "we don’t owe you a debate", while i tried *explaining* myself in good faith, crossed a line for me. 100
Strider @striderthewriter.bsky.social · 08/01/2026For clarity: I support queer people and recognize the very real danger they face. My issue was with selective definitions of extremism and being written off by identity. I didn’t communicate perfectly, yes, but I was genuinely flabbergasted and tried to quietly withdraw. Screenshots below. 100
Strider @striderthewriter.bsky.social · 08/01/2026Stepping away from Project Silverfish. Can’t recommend it anymore. I was muted for challenging a dangerously skewed take on extremism, then dismissed by the lead dev as a "19yo hetero" and told “we don’t owe you a debate.” The game is good. The dev behavior wasn’t. Strider @striderthewriter.bsky.social · 29/12/2025Мастер’s 1987 debut album includes the song "SOS", which retains the leitmotif, riffs, and general structure of Смещение’s "Стихия", showing the direct musical lineage. In 2004, Мастер remastered "Стихия" for their album "33 Жизни", explicitly acknowledging the song´s roots in Смещение 000
Strider @striderthewriter.bsky.social · 29/12/2025After Смещение disbanded in 1983, Lebedev stayed active in the Moscow underground scene, working as a session musician, songwriter, producer and engineer for other projects, including Мастер in multiple capacities. 110
Strider @striderthewriter.bsky.social · 29/12/2025In autumn 1983, Смещение disbanded. Granovsky and Lebedev left Moscow for work with the Petrozavodsk Philharmonic. Troyanskaya stayed and later performed solo, though her career was hindered by drug addiction Granovsky then later joined up with Ария, before splitting off and forming Мастер in 1987 110
