The result wasn't 52%:48%. You can not pro rate abstentions and apathy. It was 37.4%:34.7%, a 2.7% difference. A 1.4% swing would have reversed the result. So, if the answer to the first two is yes, then the effect required is tiny, and there is little doubt about the last two.

This is what Trump thinks of his relationship with Putin. A much more realistic turn of events took place in Yorkshire.

I dislike French mustard but like English. Sometimes, cheap English mustard has the taste in it that I dislike in French and American.

He asked if the train was for Cleethorpes. Customer service was our mantra, so I simply replied, "Yes, sir." 🤷‍♂️

I worked for East Midlans Trains and was in uniform on platform 6 at Sheffield. A guy walked over as there was an announcement that the train on platform 6 was for Cleethorpes. There was a PI screen to the left of the train that said "Cleethorpes," and the front of the train said "Cleethorpes"

I've said for years that it isn't the news but "the bad news, vaguely linked old bad news and gloomy speculation," but the BBC now appears to have dropped the first two.

So, my response that their money didn't fall out of the sky and that it came from oil revenue is correct, even if only partly? And is using either of the sources "laundering"?

Steve Pearce @strettonbluenose.bsky.social · 05/10/2026
I never denied that goes on in Abu Dhabi. Are you denying that they're very wealthy from oil revenue?

People are complex. If you think a contentious problem is simple, you're likely an extremist.

Oil. Abu Dhabi sold a lot of oil. They have massive amounts of money from oil.

It only takes a long time if the rules prevent you from putting in enough money. There's no allegations of laundering money. You made that up. I'd be happy for every bankrupt club to be wiped off the face of the earth. Maybe more clubs would behave. Man city didn't rob local businesses or HMRC

And that's why they cheated. Disrupting the status quo was against the rules.

I've been at the euthanasia of two elderly cats. It was heartbreaking. It was also straightforward and humane. Setting aside the morality of euthanasing people, I have no idea why it's any more difficult.

Rules is rules But whenever you watch or listen to a football programme or read a fan forum, everyone wants to spend more. Everyone wants more money in football. And yet Man City have (almost certainly) broken rules preventing them from being donated money. So, what is the purpose of these rules?

I despair. Someone I know's whole financial solution is to cut expenditure - no tax rises, no more borrowing - until the Winter Fuel Allowancd debacle - "But not a benefit my mum gets!" FFS!

"Violence"? You mean "murder" and in a really vile and horrible way.

Steve Pearce @strettonbluenose.bsky.social · 28/09/2026
It's quite simple. One was being violent, has form, and owns the means to flee the country, and the others were stealing.

Whilst it wasn't a private hobby, there were very few Britons who participated or benefited at the time. Does said legal framework spread responsibility to all Britons, even those toiling in the dark satanic mills or tilling fields, and who weren't eligible to vote?

If you can get potash cheaper from Belerus, why wasn't the greatest, most entrepreneurial nation on earth with the best leader known to mankind already getting it ftom there? Do you think he might not be telling the truth?

I forgot which version of Microsoft Windows it was, but they started to blur the path for, say, "pictures." They may have intended to be helpful. They may have intended to make you more dependent. But "we know better than you, what you want" had begun. And now it's monetised, too.

There is a sewerage works in my parish. From time to time, despite Severn Trent's promises, it stinks. The deal is that we get all the benefits of the UK state in return. The government heard Piddlinglittletown roar? FFS, grow some balls and roar back the terms of the 'kin deal!

I got the flu vaccine in November. I got the flu in February. You could conclude that the vaccine is a waste of time. I'm 65, and folk my age die of flu. You could argue that it saved my life. I shall be having the vaccine again.

I don't like mayo, burger sauce, or anything sloppy on a sandwich. Unless I supervise, something is always squirted on. You can get ready made, though, but it's usually one ingredient. No salad. Nothing. Boring.

Musk is worth ~$929bn or 929,000 times more than a millionaire. If money doesn't grow on trees, it must come from "something." So, has he done 929k times more "something" than a millionaire? Of course not! He's taken millions of little slices of "something" done by others.

That's the point. We're all out of Afric, and there is no start or finish date for history. It all overlaps and is intertwined. You can not take a convenient period in isolation, including when Europeans enslaved Africans.

I was in Midland House, Derby, working for Balfour Beatty Rail Renewals and a guy who's now a Regional Programme Director for Track at Network Rail, put the telly on.

"A dark blizzard of disinformation is warping the public’s perception of" everything. I Googled "Police" brand sunglasses. The first two responses weren't that brand. They used to be trustworthy. Everything is monetised and politicised and biased crap.

I'm amazed if someone as wealthy as him pays that much tax. I'd also be amazed if he did, and the liability went to £0 when he left. One thing is for sure. I don't trust a word he and the politicians he pays, say.

I'm not proud of it, but as a youth, I was quite violent, and I took a fair few beatings along the way. This privileged piece of shit has neither given nor taken a beating. He's probably never been in a run or fight situation but struts around like he's hard. What a total wanker.

I bought some cheap sunglasses. They look great but are flimsy, and I have to adjust them nearly every time I put them on. I thought I'd buy some branded. The brand I picked were only third in a google search. WtF? They used to be good.

In the run-up to the brexit referendum, the government upped the financial requirements necessary to remain in the UK, and an Austrailan couple made the headlines because they were deported. An anti immigration brexiter colleague was outraged. It was then I realised how rife racism is.

If you think something to do with people is straightforward and binary, you probably don't understand it. I use AI to help me review contracts. It misses nothing and then makes 5/10 conclusions. I have to check everything. But it turns a 1.5 day job into 0.5 days.

Network Rail were lucky where it was. It could have been another Hatfield. I knew 4 of the railway folk acquited of manslaughter. Being interviewed under caution in Paddington Green police station is truly dreadful. It won't be Hendy in the dock. Block the line, folks, and dont yield to pressure.

It's been said that voting reform was a protest by "disenchanted folk." Personally, I think there's a lot who are simply racist but if true, the poor and disenchanted were always going to lurch to the left at some point.

Life is full of little coincidences. I went to Camp Hill scool for boys, sharing a site with Mahmood's school, and my son in law went to the Pingle Academy, Brigden's school, but we get on famously!

According to the BBC's response to complaints about them reporting excessively on Reform, opinion polls play an important part in setting the agenda. If this is the case, then "drags" would be replaced with "leads."

There are differences within England. Folk in Yorkshire say "while" where the rest of us say "until". I guess it was the way latin diverged into Spanish and Italian and others before technology froze them all.
