If your guests can’t find your toilet brush you’re going to see some shit
The corner of a bathroom next to the toilet (a sliver of the lid is visible on the left). There’s no visible brush or plunger. There’s a candle on the window sill. The window is made of textured privacy glass. There’s a reflection of the window on the wall tiles.

Chicago Things to Do
A screenshot of the Chicago Things to Do account on X. The avatar is the tribune logo in white on a red background, the handle is @redeyechicago, and the first post is about a crime in LA. The bio is "We're all getting used to cutting loose and having fun again. We've got you covered with the best things to eat, drink and do in Chicago."A cartoonish geological time scale diagram showing Earth's history as a stack of colored rock layers from bottom (oldest) to top (youngest). There's a pterodactyl flying at the side and people, a dog, and a pickup truck at the top.

A reroute only a personal injury attorney could love. Conflict points have been moved from signalized to crash heavy non-signalized intersections and the westbound route from the lake now passes the spot I got doored with no mitigations. Good thing our alders delayed the greenway 9 months for this!
A person holds a white flyer with a blue header reading “COMING SOON” in gold and “WELLINGTON & OAKDALE NEIGHBORHOOD GREENWAYS” in large white bold text, with “Leavitt Greenway to Lakefront Trail” as a subtitle. A CDOT (Chicago Department of Transportation) star logo appears in the upper right.
Below the header is a horizontal street map showing the greenway route running east–west along Wellington and Oakdale Avenues.
Two columns of text follow. The left reads “PROJECT DESCRIPTION” with body text: “New bike routes are coming to Wellington and Oakdale Avenues! The Chicago Department of Transportation (CDOT) is installing a pair of neighborhood greenways to connect the Leavitt Greenway to the Lakefront Trail. Between Southport and North (Inner) Lake Shore Drive, Wellington Ave will serve as the primary route for eastbound cyclists and Oakdale Ave will serve westbound cyclists. This will provide access to Hamlin Park, the Wellington CTA station, the Lincoln, Clark, and Broadway commercial corridors, and other bike routes.” The right column reads “PROJECT BENEFITS” listing four bullet points about safer vehicle speeds, a low-stress alternative to Diversey Parkway, more predictable streets, and improved access to trails, schools, and community destinations.
At the bottom, a “FEATURED ELEMENTS” section shows four photos labeled Advisory Bike Lanes, Contraflow Bike Lanes, One Way Bike Lanes, and Smooth Speed Humps, each with bullet-point descriptions. Footer text reads: “To find more information about this and other projects, visit: chicago.gov/CompleteStreets”

You still have time to vote against Paul Kendrick (D-Meta) and friends if you’d like to see less, not more, of this type of thing
A screenshot of a bar chart titled “Meta-backed PAC has already spent nearly $340,000 on four primary races,” with the subtitle noting $245,000 went to physical mailers and $95,000 to digital advertising. Four candidates are shown with stacked bars breaking out Meta digital ad support (dark teal) and Meta mailer support (light teal). Jaime Andrade received $43,191, Aja Kearney $48,762, Adam Braun $106,162, and Paul Kendrick $141,765. Source: Making our tomorrow’s campaign disclosure reports

You gotta speed (trib gift link)
Screenshot of an article:

U.S. Rep. Raja Krishnamoorthi was racing back toward Washington, D.C., but not for a vote.

The Illinois Democrat had already knocked out back-to-back fundraisers in New York that September 2019 weekend, but Krishnamoorthi was determined to make a third event in northern Virginia, a former campaign staffer recalled in a recent interview. As the staffer drove along the New Jersey Turnpike, Krishnamoorthi realized they would arrive late.

“So he says, ‘You gotta speed,’” said the onetime staffer, one of nearly a dozen ex-campaign and congressional employees who spoke to the Tribune on the condition of anonymity. “If I hit below 80 (mph), he was getting mad."

STFU about Chicago, you don’t live here
A screenshot of a Bears Instagram post. It’s the fifth slide of six. A wall of text: “Our new stadium and mixed-use district will generate lasting benefits for residents, workers, families, and fans in Arlington Heights, Cook County, and the State of Illinois. This development will create more than 56,000 construction jobs, and 9,000 permanent jobs. We are forecasting $10 billion in economic impact attributed to statewide construction, and $256 million in annual statewide new business and tourism impact. Chicago only has 10 cranes in the sky, which pales in comparison to other major cities. It is a once-in-a-generation opportunity for Chicago, its surrounding communities, and the state of Illinois to become the pinnacle of sports and entertainment destinations.&10;&10;This is the type of venue and destination that you all have deserved for years, and we are working every day to make progress. This stadium will allow us to have the best home field advantage in the National Football League. While we do not yet have all the answers, we are optimistic about working with the Village of Arlington Heights to obtain necessary approvals and begin building our new home.”

Oh so they fuck with Old Town now?
Two vintage Chicago Tribune advertisements for "The Parkview" condominium from 1978.

Left Ad (June 25, 1978):
Shows people outdoors with tall residential building in background. Advertises that over 90% of units are sold, emphasizing Gold Coast living at costs well under market price for Gold Coast condominiums. Highlights that value-minded buyers can still get studios, convertible efficiencies, or one- and two-bedroom units. Located at 1660 North LaSalle across from Lincoln Park, short stroll from beach, near Treasure Island shopping, with bus access to Michigan Avenue and downtown. Features 24-hour doorman, swimming pool, central heating and air conditioning, self-park garage, and surprising closet space. Notes it's not in the heart of the Gold Coast but close enough to enjoy the Lake, Park, beach and other things that make the Gold Coast an outstanding neighborhood. Promises well-built building with outstanding services at prices the Gold Coast will never see again.
Right Ad (April 30, 1978):
Shows tall residential building. Headline promises Gold Coast living for a lot less than Gold Coast prices. Describes The Parkview (formerly Eugene Square) as giving buyers most things they want in a Gold Coast home at costs well under market price for Gold Coast condominiums. Emphasizes breathtaking views of lake and city skyline, location across from Lincoln Park near beach and shopping, bus access to Michigan Avenue. Same amenities as left ad plus dishwashers and double ovens in larger units. Again positions as not in Gold Coast heart but close enough for Gold Coast lifestyle.
Contact: 1660 North LaSalle, 751-1660. Studios, convertible efficiencies, one- and two-bedroom units with financing available.

This is great work but let's not forget that 1660 N. LaSalle is also a NOTORIOUS criminal scoffing ground
Archival scan of a newspaper article, part 1. Headline: "No. 1 scofflaw scoffs at law once again"

Text:
A WARRANT for the arrest of Gerald Cooper, 28, Chicago's number one traffic scofflaw, who was fined $14,500 in May, was issued Monday by Presiding Judge Richard LaFevour of Traffic Court.Archival scan of a newspaper article, part 2.

Text:
Cooper, of 1660 N. LaSalle St., failed to appear in court Fri'ay, when he was supposed to pay the first $1,000 of his fine. The fine was imposed for ignoring

parking tickets issued for his car between 1973 and 1977.
When arrested, Cooper, who is unemployed, was given 30 days in which to pay the first $1,000 of the fine and ordered to pay $200 a month for five years and seven months.
THE FINE WAS imposed hy
Judge Richard Dowdle of Traffic Court after Cooper pleaded guilty to failing to pay the parking tick-ets-67 of which were issued in 1973, 83 in 1974, 131 in 1975, 369 in

Ed’s post but with the text edited to be about unlimited shrimp:

Photo of text: “How much shrimp do l get?

Burst limits will always be greater than the cost of one's plan! If you've bought Pro, you'll always get to use over $20 of model inference at APl prices before seeing any rate limits.

Users get unlimited agent requests when using the 'auto' model selector, which routes to a frontier model that has capacity at that time.”

Text: “I am not trying to be dramatic, but it's pretty easy to come to the conclusion that Red Lobster is going to die. You are guaranteed, as part of your plan, to get more
shrimp than your plan costs. So if you're at
$20-a-month, you get more than $20 in shrimp . This isn't a good business!”
