Hilarious to be chided about 'celebrating' Oct 7 when Zionists have thrown a thousand day fête of bullets and bombs in rapturous jubilee, still ongoing. Celebration against celebration, our joy works to bring yours to an end.

You can't have a suite of policies that favour investment over dwelling and expect another outcome. You can't deregulate rents and zoning through Airbnb and expect a different outcome. Politics and media have been writhing over this for decades — it's very simply state-subsidised exploitation.

You tell 'em, Agamben
"Here the etymology of the word studium becomes clear. It goes back to a st- or sp- root indicating a crash, the shock of impact. Studying and stupefying are in this sense akin: those who study are in the situation of people who have received a shock and are stupefied by what has struck them, unable to grasp it and at the same time powerless to leave hold. The scholar, that is, is always "stupid." But if on the one hand he is astonished and absorbed, if study is thus essentially a suffering and an undergoing, the messianic legacy it contains drives him, on the other hand, incessantly toward closure. This jestina lente, this shuttling between bewilderment and lucidity, discovery and loss, between agent and patient, is the rhythm of study." Agamben, Idea of Prose

Some of u:
He came to read; two or three books
are lying open: history and poetry.
But after just ten minutes of reading
he lets them drop. There on the sofa
he falls asleep. He truly is devoted to reading-
but he is twenty-three years old, and very handsome.
And just this afternoon, Eros surged
within his perfect limbs and on his lips.
Into his beautiful flesh came the heat of passion,
and there was no foolish embarrassment
about the form that pleasure took...

This is a really cool way to appreciate the structure of Hegel's dialectic: that it ping-pongs between the individual and the universal, but, by means of the operations of identity and difference. It's chiasmic: X.
Yet many readers of Hegel have stated that he above all prefers the categories of individual/universal, and it is absolutely true that he does... but he prefers them in a very specific way that points to the difference between the content of the dialectic and its form or formal operations. For Hegel, individual/universal does not name an operation of distinction making (or “determination”); rather, they point to a mode of content. These terms can be aptly described as the content of the dialectic itself in all its phases. Identity/difference are, however, as Hegel uses them, operations, processes of distinction making that frequently transform individuals into universals (as above), or universals into individuals, and for these reasons have no content on their own: they are processes of determination. // The entire PoS ... from its first chapter to its last, exhibits an overarching chiastic structure,identity/difference appearing first and last and individual/universal emerging in between, appropriately enough, as the products of dialectical mediation.

Increasingly convinced that the only real way to make sense of race, is as an erotics first and foremost:
Race is the preeminent pleasure of our time. Whiteness is not a color; it is a way of feeling pleasure in and about one's body. The black body is needed to fulfill this desire for race-pleasure. In our colorlined world, the white body is a form of desire and the black body is a form of pleasure // The peculiar pleasure of race is, to use the language of Sade, a "pleasure of comparison," that is, "a pleasure which can only be born of the sight of wretched persons." The colorline produces the wretchedness which we experience as race. It is the colorline, not nature, which makes people white or black.

Race is a form of pleasure in one's body which is achieved through humiliation of the Other & then, as a last step, through a denial of the entire process. We deny it through a discourse in which "race" appears as a thing created by nature and not as a practice developed by a culture. By denying their fetishization of "race," whites create a culture in which they are both masters and innocents.

istg if you replace like 2 words you can turn Weil into Badiou
"God [The Event] has, therefore, only the power to reward those efforts that cannot be rewarde din this world, those efforts carried out in the void; the void attracts grace. Efforts carried out in the void constitute the operation which Christ [Mallarmé] calls 'laying up treasures in heaven'." - Passage from Weil's The Need For Roots

What Rome was to Weil the US is to me lol
Such a conception as this was precisely in tune with the Romans' hearts and minds; slavery had permeated and degraded all human relations. They debased the most beautiful things. They dishonoured suppliants by forcing them to tell lies. They dishonoured gratitude by considering it as an softened form of slavery: according to their thinking, a person receiving a benefit forfeited some of their freedom in exchange. If it was a great benefit, it was customary for the recipient to tell the benefactor that they were their slave. They dishonoured love: for them, being in love was either to acquire the person they loved as a chattel, or, if that were not possible, to submit servilely to them to obtain carnal pleasures, even if it meant they had to share that person with ten others. They dishonoured their country in conceiving of patriotism as the desire to reduce all people who were not their compatriots to slavery. But it would be briefer to list what they didn’t dishonour. We would probably find nothing. Another thing they dishonoured was sovereignty.

One of the most straightforward takeaways of AP is an immediate suspicion over all uses of 'us' and 'we'. You gotta ask: do you really belong to this 'we' or are you being dragged into it by your ankle under the guise of solidarity and 'the future'?

Fun reading exercise is to read Bataille and Weil together and pay attention to how each draws up two distinct economies - general and restricted, divine and terrestrial - and how this figures into their strangely similar distribution of concepts.

I keep returning, again and again, to this passage of Marriott's On Black Men, since yesterday:
"This is what the lynchers want. A memory, an imago, that will not go away. Not only the body, burned and stinking in the trees, but black men, women and children looking, and then looking away, from what the white men have done. 'Everybody was afraid' except the young back boy who, not knowing what to expect, keeps looking until he can see what has happened. something has been torn away and left lying on the ground, something private which confirms - as it seems, the tarred body cannot - that what has happened is a 'sin'. It's a vision which stays with this boy for the rest of his life - 'I can still see him hanging up like that' - a reminder of how fragile his possession of himself, his 'manhood', can be. The real difference between black and white men. ... The lesson with stay with you: blackness afflicted, mutilated, a fatal way of being alive." - David Marriott - On Black Men

If you tweak this just a little, then Homer's answer to the paradox of motion is simply that motion is possible because the Gods abandon you.
Text from Homer's Iliad: "Like a chase in a nightmare when no one, pursuer or pursued, can move a limb, so Achilles could not catch up Hector, nor Hector shake off Achilles. How could Hector have escapes the demons of death, had not Apollo come to him for the last time and given him new drive and fresh speed? Achilles too had been signalling to his men with his head not to shoot at Hector, in case someone else hit him and won the glory, and he came second.

But when they reached the springs for the fourth time, the Father held out his golden scales and, putting death that lays men low in either pan, on one side for Achilles, on the other for horse-taming Hector, raised the balance by the middle of the beam. The beam came down on Hector's side, spelling his doom. He was on the way to Hades. Phoebus Apollo deserted him..."

Frank Wilderson III I love you
“My presentation shits on the inspiration of solidarity,” I told her.
“I don’t give a rat’s ass about solidarity.”
Dove was an Oxbridge-educated don, who held her head so high
as she scolded me she could drown in the rain. Her eyes widened
at the sheer derision of my words. What, she must have wondered,
happened to the friendly black face and those snowy teeth that had
flashed when she winked the day before?
“That is so terrible,” she groaned. “That is such a shame.”
She went on to tell me that she had recently heard Angela Davis
say that she had transcended the slave stature. She said this two or
three times and I was about to ask her if she had heard of any other
Black people when Ian Bryce ended the session and said it was time
for lunch. - Afropessimism, p. 187

Bataille on mathematics against dialectics:
"Thus mathematics-whether higher or not-underwent, during the nineteenth century, an evolution that in every way was contrary to Engels's program; it eliminated every appearance of a dialectic. Rigor in demonstrations, noncontradiction in principles, constant accord with logic; those are the ends pursued, and on the whole attained, by mathematics. One could object, certainly, that new difficulties reappeared with set theory and that the transfinite could give rise to developments having the appearance of the dialectic. But the mathematicians' attitude (their practical effort) toward these new paradoxes is the same as their attitude toward the old ones: far from seeing them as the result of a superior mode of thought, they examine them with horror. A new labor of logical reduction starts. We need mention here only the work of Hilbert and the Polish school". - Georges Bataille, "Critique of the Foundations of the Hegelian Dialectic"
