Harman you can tell me early I love your film. I shoot Phoenix 2 every opportunity I can. I would buy bulk rolls or slide film day one. I'm your #1 fan.
A beautifully rendered cloudy sky against which stands the sun drenched tower of a sky scraper. Taken, of course, on the inimitable Phoenix 2 film from Harman Photo.

I can see why people found this confusing, but the confusion didn't lessen my enjoyment. I appreciate how few names were given throughout, as well as the intertextual stories given by characters. It felt appropriately dense for a Melville novel; it needs more reading and thinking on my behalf.

This is my second Morrison, the first being Beloved while I was in high school. Really strong writing; the dynamics of the characters, the way they relate to each other and the town, felt so deep. Also the way WWI/II loomed was interesting. The intermittent horrific moments felt shocking, not cheap.

I also went on a bit of a B. Traven kick. Fascinating guy. Preferred The Death Ship, though it felt a lot more amateur. The former was fun bc it is influential on so much other stuff; the latter was just so bitter and anarchist (in the anti-state sense). also fun POV w/ non USian writing as a USian.

I finished Mass Psychology of Fascism a little while ago. It was a weird, if interesting read. Mainly played so as to approach Psycho Patrol R with a greater understanding of its context. First time reading a long form political thing like this. Pretty dense. Prescient enough to sustain the read.

Catchup post. I finished BOTNS (Citadel and Urth). The end of Citadel was wacky and fun; Urth felt totally unnecessary and reeeeeally dragged. In the end not huge on this series but it's not really my typical thing; felt like a better use of time than when I read a lot of DUNE

almost angry replied on here, posting this instead. building mishmash #35mm
A black and white 35mm photograph. It appears to be multiple exposures of buildings at various angles, forming a relatively solid black square in the center. There is also a smudge or some residue on the black square, which is because this is like my third roll I've developed at home. I'm learning.

It's no WARLOCK, but it's still a good time. Really great characters. It approaches the complexity of W's politics, situated here in terms of the enclosure of common land for ranching, but doesn't reach the same heights.

2 more down. The Long Walk read was spurred by seeing the movie; id never read King before. It was just great. Not particularly deep, but riveting, and weird in all the right ways. The Insufferable Gaucho was a lot of fun. Police Rat was probably my favorite, though Literature+Illness was good too.

Couple more little books. Last Evenings on Earth was a delight. DENTIST really stood out, as did a few others. It's bizzare as a work though, in that it's composed of stories ripped from two different Spanish releases. You can really feel the style differences too. Sword of the Lictor was ok.

Bit of a catch-up post here. Really loved Rings of Saturn and Austerlitz, the former in particular. The latter feels like Sebald's style has really crystallized and achieved a final form, even if the work itself isn't as subtle as Emigrants or Rings. BOTNS is annoying me but I'm locked in.

What can you even say. Heartbreaking. Beautiful. All the lives tied up in the stories here, the embedded memoirs, the quiet villages, the history that was forgotten or intentionally not remembered. Fuck, man. I'm hard pressed to choose a favorite but Amos Adelwarth was pretty fantastic.

Finally got around to finishing this thanks to a book club. Hopefully gonna run the whole series? Really nice, subtle world building; Severian is such a lovely and intriguing narrator (even if he's a piece of shit); juuuust enough Catholicism brain poison to keep you interested

Book 1 of my 2026ebald challenge. Challenge is appropriate here, I struggled to get into his rhythm at first, but the latter stories clicked and I really enjoyed them. The Kafka twins thing was hilarious. I think the Dr. K. story was my favorite, although Il returno was phenomenal

Book of Bolaño short stories. These are pretty phenomenal across the board. Standouts are Detectives, Clara, Prefiguration of Lalo Cura, and Murdering Whores, at the least. Photos was hard to grasp.

I have seen this book parodied and referenced so extensively that it's amazing how well it held up. Snappy, cool, edgy, and other than the like really awful treatment of women pretty fun overall.

There's nothing like a PKD novel, other than like every other PKD novel, of which there are a ton. This one felt pretty disjointed but was otherwise a lot of fun. Cool characters with bizzare powers, some of whom are just like inexplicably evil. Also classic 1960s racist anti racism.

2026 Reading Thread: Starting off with a heater. Reread, technically, though I felt like I got way more out of it this time. Really felt like I got to know the enponymous pair, and their final scenes were devastating. St. Helena, and some of the scenes in the West Line, still confuse me. BANGER.
