I spoke to a friend who is an architect by trade, and he put together this lovely infographic detailing where we would expect Viktor's name to be included in the plans, and where we wouldn't. (3/4)

"That may be so, but the things it was whispering to you weren't all truths."

But not all feeling. I remain here for one reason only: that after it all, I am still afraid to die.

I am physically impervious, of course. As close to immortal as one can get. But I brought the world into this one mind, this shared consciousness. Even now, I can hear them in perfect peace, in perfect stillness. One billion souls, holding their collective breath for eternity. And what would I sacrifice to hear them sigh again?

They became nothing, each of them. Drops in the ocean, that smooth, glassy lake. And I am afraid of becoming like them.

Does that make me a hypocrite?

Viktor collapsed in the lane. Alarmed, Jayce ran to him, lifted him from the ground, leaving his staff near where he fell.

"*Viktor*."

Viktor opened his sleepy eyes. Upon registering Jayce's concerned face, his own slightly lifted position, the staff missing from his hand, he sighed. "I need rest." He didn't sound surprised. He sounded resigned.

"But you haven't healed anyone," Jayce tried.

Viktor closed his eyes again and laid an exhausted arm over his chest. "I know."

Jayce wasn't sure what that meant. Rest meant resting chamber, he knew that much. It was just so sudden. In the middle of the day. How long had this been going on? Had Viktor collapsed when Jayce wasn't around?

"I can feel you worrying," Viktor teased, his eyes still closed.

"Sorry. Do you need a lift?"

Viktor laughed weakly. "I think I will manage." He rolled out of Jayce's grip, but allowed Jayce to help him to his feet. Jayce handed him his staff, which he immediately leaned on. "It does no good to alarm the residents by having you visibly carry me around the commune."

Jayce looked around at the curious faces, witnessing the scene in their midst. "I uh... think it might be a little late for that."

Viktor tracked his eyes. "Mm. I do not envy you. What will you tell them while I am indisposed?"

Jayce choked. "What? Me?" He shook his head. "What am I *supposed* to tell them?"

Viktor shrugged. "You're the one they trust, Jayce," he said lightly. "That is for you to figure out." He started making his way towards the resting chamber.

"Wait, but-- I don't want to be their leader!" Jayce said, following behind.

Viktor glanced back at him. "That makes two of us," he said, a glint in his eye.

what gets me every time is that Jayce lands on his arm, trapping his hand between his body and the crutch, and he has to let go of it real fuckin quick lmao
