From the magazine advertising private jets. “Rather than stop destroying the planet we’ve found a workaround. “

Less competing for resources, less keeping up with the jones’, less conspicuous consumption, less ego driven ecocide. More sitting around just being.

Tax vehicles by weight and size- increasing exponentially. Punitively Tax flights and aircraft fuel. Subsidize trains and electric bikes. Punitively tax meat and dairy products - make healthier alternatives cheaper. Reform the electricity market. Make the worst offenders pay for transition

No, the leading cause of biodivery loss is the meat and dairy industries. We are facing a poly crisis of which cc is just one big nail in the coffin. Soil loss, insect loss, deforestation, ecosystem degradation, chemical residues, nitrogen pollution, etc etc Exacerbated by animal agriculture

Elon Gates @strawdogs.bsky.social · 09/10/2026
Here’s another paper using ERF instead of GWP100 to calculate more realistically the contribution of animal agriculture. Whatever the contribution, we can never get anywhere near net zero with the human population eating other animals and their secretions iopscience.iop.org/article/10.1...

The most impactful, immediate thing you can do is move to a plant based diet. The main driver of biodiversity loss, and a huge chunk of climate change are the meat and dairy industries. #rewilding without going plant based just exports the problem.

For The Economist cultural social norms are more important than objective rational thinking. Hence the belittling of other animals welfare including those disappearing in our collapsing ecosystems.

The belief means we don’t need to examine ourselves, our culture, and our shared fundamental beliefs around “what a human being is” as the root of the ecological problem

A symptom of the prevailing humanist belief system, massively overstating the role and scope of technology in saving us from our own over utilisation. “The keeling curve” never proven, but taken as a fact.

Yes in Scotland certain estates are feeding deer. There are too many deer because the estates make money from deer stalking

Meat and dairy is the biggest driver of biodiversity loss and forest loss. It is also the cause of a huge proportion of climate change, anywhere between 20 percent to 50 percent depleting on accounting. A diet that denies virtually all the life on earth a future. And we don’t even need it!
