Mrs. Lee, North Street, Leeds, 1975. This the last day of the sale has been going on for six months. The day after she did close down somebody did set fire to the shop. Love that jumper!

Scarecrow 40. The scarecrows date from 1974-2015 and are essentially Yorkshire. They could be Walter de la Mare's 'host of phantom listeners stood thronging the moonlit air, listening to the world of men' or the various tribes of farmers or anybody. But to me they're friends.

Spencer Place, Leeds, 1979. My street but not my house. A fine street in the heart of Ripper Country unfortunately. Classic evidence of ‘money moving up the road’ as things tighten in the centre.

Scarecrow 28. The scarecrows date from 1974-2015 and are essentially Yorkshire. Blank scarecrow faces in empty landscapes with muted skies connect to a bleak pastoral sensibility.

Plumbers, Crown Street, Leeds, 1974. Third White Cloth Hall, Crown St, built 1775. Partially demolished 1865 when North Eastern Railway viaduct bisected it.

Mr. Jakimavicius, Markham Avenue, Leeds, 1979. A common and effective way of zupping up your frontage Mr. J with more stamina than most also did sides and back and turned hi front rills into a greenhouse. Nice stuff.

Carters, Old Kent Road, London, 1979. This firm, (closed only a few weeks ago) in its heyday had half of south London sewn up. The man doesn’t raise his hat on the hour.
