I just discovered how to switch them off on iPhones while keeping Emergency Alerts on 😅. You need to go to Settings > Notifications and scroll all the way to the bottom.

Stanford created a similar tool for the Roman Empire more than a decade ago: orbis.stanford.edu. ORBIS lets you calculate travel times by land, river, and sea, with options for different modes of transport and travel speeds. It's truly an amazing resource and I'm so grateful they keep hosting it.

In 2017 the entire Flickr.com photo archive was almost deleted by its owner Verizon. The @flickrfdn.bsky.social is working heroically to preserve these photos for the next 100 years. They have developed a toolkit called Data Lifeboat which allows anyone to create a Flickr timecapsule. #Europeana2025

Using some downtime from @datarescueproject.org to read @richove.bsky.social’s compelling history of knowledge under attack. The medium may change over time, but the goal remains the same: to destroy evidence of inconvenient truths - whether in 1930s Germany, 1990s Bosnia, or in the US today.
