The only way it can backfire is if they lose a lot of users, but the only strong competitor in the streaming space (Youtube/Google) is just as adamant about pushing genAI, so I think we're just fucked.

This sort of thing usually results in stocks going up, because all the investors care about is the potential short term profit. It doesn't matter if the consumers hate it, just like when Sony stocks went up after the announcement that they would stop making physical games.

Generally speaking, I feel like so many GBA games get overlooked in favor of their home console counterparts. Like, I believe that Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga has the most complex and detailed maps of any Mario RPG, and Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow is at least as good as Symphony of the Night.

While not really obscure, Mario Tennis: Power Tour and Mario Golf: Advance Tour have a pretty solid RPG mode that not many people know about. I always found them charming because they look distinctively "Camelot" rather than settling for a safer and more typical Mario aesthetic.

Kuru Kuru Kururin is a very unique puzzle/action game with character designs by Yoichi Kotabe. It was a launch title in Europe and Australia, never released in NA. Fun fact, its cartridge is featured as a treasure in Pikmin 4, most likely because it was co-developed by the same company, 8ing.

This is my favorite console! Aside from the obvious (Mother 3, Pokemon, etc.) here are some relatively obscure games that I like. This is Tomato Adventure, an adorable little RPG made by AlphaDream before Superstar Saga. It's JP only, but there's a fan translation out there.

Sure, in Portal you solve puzzles by "shooting" portals, but you have unlimited ammo, unlimited time, and aiming carefully is never required. Metroid Prime would make for a boring shooter because you lock on to targets and aim automatically. Shooting is not the focus at all.

That's like calling Zelda a "fighting game" because you fight Ganon in it. Too literal to the point that labeling games as such isn't useful anymore. Imho a shooter is when the game hinges on your ability to shoot. It has to be *about* shooting

This... wasn't hand-picked by a single employee, it's the result of all critics reviews throughout the year. Bananza is factored in, but other less successful games like Drag x Drive and NS2 Welcome Tour bring down the score. Then again, whether Metascores matter at all is highly debatable.

I think it's a combination of longer video + the game is popular, but not Mario levels of popular + a good chunk of the target audience is already familiar with the speedrun and doesn't need it explained. I appreciate your videos a lot, for what it's worth

Post a fav game that got 75 or less on Metacritic. I'm not a huge Mega Man fan, but this one is baffling to me. Star Force 3 is considered by many to be the best Mega Man RPG, some reviewers were just tired of the series

Not counting the re-releases, 1st. 1/ALTTP/OOT were groundbreaking in many ways. 2 had some good ideas, though not the best execution. LA/OOA/OOS/MC had so much detail and care crammed in relatively smaller spaces. MM/WW had the most interesting themes and vibes. (I love TP and BOTW as well!)

But if you're a kid with a low attention span and you can generate anything with AI, chances are you'll never even bother picking up a pencil or an instrument. I'm afraid that AI will demotivate kids from becoming creative in the first place.

I'm more pessimistic about this :( You make a distinction between creative and non-creative people, but I believe people *become* creative at a young age, when they find that the best/most entertaining way to express their feelings is through drawing, playing music, etc.
