Agreed! It's a huge shame 😭But I will say if you're looking for a manga exploring gender through a romcom narrative, I recommend 晃くんかもしれないし晃ちゃんかもしれない/Maybe Akira-kun, Maybe Akira-chan. The love interest is deliberately gender ambiguous & rejects gender norms to the very end which was very nice!

I've read it because I, as an agender person, was interested by the premise, and I must say I don't recommend it😅 The endings didn't seem to serve any meaningful message about gender, and cisheteronormativity and the idea that sex=gender is prevasive throughout the whole story.
