Steve @stevexciv.com · 16/08/2026Good to see Bluesky back online. I was about to have to go complain about it by posting on Mastodon. 000
Steve @stevexciv.com · 20/06/2026Overheard someone describe the start of the pandemic as “six years ago” and I think I took like 40hp of psychic damage from that comment. 000
Steve @stevexciv.com · 21/03/2026tfw you go to pet your cat but they headbutt your hand with reckless abandon 😻 000
Steve @stevexciv.com · 18/02/2026they ran out of ways to overhaul the UI and decided to just break it instead 😁 000
Steve @stevexciv.com · 30/01/2026When you one shot fix a problem with Claude on your pet project’s CSS but it ends up being a one line change 😩😩😩 whatever, I’m a backend engineer dude 000
Steve @stevexciv.com · 09/01/2026Wow.. I truly did not expect to see @newgrounds.com come across my feed today, but I’m glad to see that the weird and wonderful artistic community that was a mainstay of my teenage years is still going strong all these years later! 000
Steve @stevexciv.com · 19/12/2025I’m so conflicted. Liquid Glass on a phone kinda sucks, but the CarPlay UI is actually really good. 010
Steve @stevexciv.com · 06/12/2025Nothing like a power outage to remind you that you forgot a “restart: unless-stopped” in your compose file. 010
Steve @stevexciv.com · 06/12/2025Bazzite is a great out-of-box experience for sure! I’ve been running it on my gaming PC for almost a year now and have generally had a pretty positive experience. The only thing I will say is driver support can be rough for brand new hardware, but that’s hardly a Bazzite-only problem. 030

Steve @stevexciv.com · 05/09/2025A few years ago I missed an opportunity to try out #golang - this past long weekend I decided to remedy that and I wrote about it: www.stevexciv.com/blog/giving-... #go #golang #buildinpublic #blogstevexciv.comGiving Go a TryA constructive, honest review of my first real Go project: a CLI todo app. 272
Steve @stevexciv.com · 18/07/2025This sounds like a worthwhile cause! If you’re going to automate via the API, you might consider structured output. Essentially, ChatGPT can be configured to output only responses matching a JSON schema: openai.com/index/introd...openai.comIntroducing Structured Outputs in the APIWe are introducing Structured Outputs in the API—model outputs now reliably adhere to developer-supplied JSON Schemas. 020
Steve @stevexciv.com · 08/05/2025Great write up! These visuals would have saved me quite a bit of time back when I was still a junior engineer and came across reservoir sampling for the first time 🤣 040
Steve @stevexciv.com · 28/04/2025+1 for Zola; stevexciv.com is a Zola site and I don’t see that changing any time soon 😁stevexciv.comSteve Troetti's Blog 020
Steve @stevexciv.com · 28/04/2025Thank you! Yes I found MASH quite pleasant to use. It’s clear to me that the fundamentals are there for building amazing things. I’m excited about the prospect of digging into it some more and answering questions around project structure, testing, etc. 010
Steve @stevexciv.com · 27/04/2025I wrote a quick blog post about trying out the MASH stack in #rustlang after seeing @8hantanu.net and @emschwartz.me write about it - it was a good time! www.stevexciv.com/blog/zero-to... #rust #webdev #fullstack #mashstack #buildinpublicstevexciv.comZero to Prototype: Trying Out the MASH StackMy experiences giving the MASH Stack a try. 1134
Steve @stevexciv.com · 18/03/2025@bsky.app this has probably been suggested before, but it would be awesome to have the option to block an account as like a checkbox on the report form; I reported a few spam bots and having to reopen the menu to block is a bit clunky 010
Steve @stevexciv.com · 01/03/2025Duolingo really just made me do a whole listening exercise complete with cutscenes and the only things the characters said were “hello”, “goodbye”, and “see you tomorrow”. 000
Steve @stevexciv.com · 15/02/2025Totally second this! I’ve only ever done prototypes in #godot because real life always pulls me away from longer term projects. However, it’s one of the few pieces of software where I don’t dread clicking the button to upgrade projects to the new version. They’ve got that down to a science! 000
