I might be one of the few people who saw Damnation Alley in the cinema. It was supposed to be 20th Century Fox’s big sci-fi release of 1977, and not that weird film George Lucas was shooting in London!

I hope you've got plenty of choice quotes from Rick Baker. I know from reading his own book, Metamorphosis, that the whole Night Skies debacle and ET's design are both very sore subjects with the make-up maestro. Can't wait for this one Max!

This excellent news Max. Close Encounters is one of my favourite films (along with Dune), and I've always been fascinated by the aborted Night Skies project and how it eventually morphed into three other films: ET, Poltergeist and, to a certain extent, Gremlins. I'll be buying this book on day one!

Yes I know exactly who Evans led, and many are currently under investigation, so not exactly the A-Team. Correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't Lee's 1989 paper about arterial embolisms but the prosecution experts were suggesting these were venal embolisms, so there shouldn't have been any 'Lee signs'?

Are air bubbles seen in X-rays evidence of deliberately introduced embolisms or could they also be the result of something like an attempted resuscitation? Why weren't the X-rays or rashes considered suspicious at the time?

Well it's only specific if she was trying to kill babies using air embolisms. As always, context is everything. I'd need to see a transcript of your last point, because obviously a nurse should know what an air embolism is regardless of going on a course.

Yes I have seen this and I do understand it, but it's a legal technically. Essentially the Court of Appeal is saying the defence could have made this point at the time of trial and as such it's not new evidence.

You seem to be wilfully missing the obvious point that the majority of the babies were multiple births with complex health issues. Statistically the spike in deaths is easy to explain without resorting to a serial killer. D you know there were eight other deaths during the same period?

I find it surprising that a doctor would dismiss out of hand the views of 31 of the world's best neonatologists when they conducted such a thorough independent review of the medical notes. Personally I find Evans to be a complete joke who just changes his 'theories' to suit the prosecution's case.

I watched the bit you suggested about Datex entries. The unit actually failed two reviews and was downgraded at the same time Letby was taken off it, which means they were no longer taking very premature babies – hence the drop in deaths. Seems pretty obvious really.

Your Yorkshire Ripper analogy is ridiculous, he wasn't killing people in a crowded neonatal unit. Your suggested motive is complete speculation, and the prosecution literally opened with the manipulated roster chart. The latter was a clear attempt at a statistical correlation.

Because she's innocent, regardless of how many times you type the words 'serial killer'. No one saw her do anything, there's no motive, no forensic evidence, all the collapses and deaths can be explained without any malicious acts, and the prosecution's statistical evidence was nonsense.
