Cumulative totals split by year are a useful graphic for those who are going to spend a minute thinking what it means. But 90% of people are going to glance at this and think small boats are going up

I can think of multiple data visualisations to display the *substantial decline* in small boat crossings. This is not one of them. Thanks BBC

Sage, whose business model is selling on at inflated prices the free labour of experts, ran a preprint server, until it couldn't be bothered and just stopped, so everyone with a paper there now has to move it somewhere else. Cheers Sage. #AcademicSky

www.theguardian.com/technology/2... "This month it emerged that" some guy let their OpenClaw do something naughty. Reporting a list of "incidents" culled from X posts as a measure of the rate of problems with AI alignment is just silly, if you don't know why, don't be the Guardian's tech editor.

The most concrete example was some guy who let his OpenClaw do something stupid. You do realise what OpenClaw is, right? Which AI provider do you want to make responsible for that? This "Loss of Control Observatory" sounds like an unserious way to "monitor" a serious problem.

No. There's a reason Murdoch and the rest of the pack decided to drop Farage now, apparently due to those funding scandals which have been public knowledge for a decade. They have a plan. Be careful what you wish for.
