My dad (right). Early 1940s. Gary wins but not, IMHO, by much.

I fucking love Sonia Sotomayor.
Not two years ago, I wrote of a "disconcerting trend" in this Court's cases: "When it comes to the separation of pow- ers, this Court tells the American public and its coordinate branches that it knows best." SEC v. Jarkesy, 603 U.S. 109, 201 2024) (dissenting opinion). Matters that for cen- turies had been left to the political branches have been sub- ordinated, one after another, to this recent Court's rigid theories of how Government should operate. See id., at
201-202 (collecting cases). The majority's decision continuing that trend today is egregiously wrong. In this case, the Court takes one of the oldest debates in American history and decides that the six Justices in the majority, alone, ought to be the ones to settle
it for all time. Finally, the majority suggests that Humphrey's has been "undermined" by later cases. Ante, at 20, 22. That is incor- rect. See supra, at 6-7 (collecting cases reaffirming
Humphrey's). Morrison did not "repudiat[e]"" Humphrey's. Ante, at 19. It extended its holding to uphold removal pro- tections for a distinct, inferior officer. Morrison, 487 U.S.,
at 687-691. The case that Morrison repudiated was Myers.Today, the majority replaces 90 years of proven, workable practice with a half-baked theory of executive power that is simultaneously all encompassing yet also subject to neces-
sary but undefined exceptions.Given that the Constitution did not grant the President alone an illimita- ble power to appoint, it is all the less likely that it silently
vested in the President an unbounded power to remove.

Apparently (ironic reference intended) even the New York Times is no longer fudging the headline but are just saying it point blank.

I saw this cute little guy at the Boston Museum of Fine Arts today. I forgot to note the exact date, but definitely Greek and likely before 300 BC.

Movie you’ve watched more than six times with a gif. Hard mode: no Stars (Wars nor Trek), LOTR, or Marvel, Disney Animated or Pixar.

Keiser’s OCTAVIA at the Boston Early Music Festival! Always fun to hear a new (to me) opera. Can’t wait!

Re NPR funding: Federal funds make up about 1% of their budget. But it's local stations that need the federal funding. They get hit hardest by a funding cut. www.npr.org/about-npr/17...

Apparently the CDC just did this. Did anyone know they were going to arbitrarily change Covid transmission categories to make everything loo better?
