I've created a #Bluesky feed for people in the UK in #Education. It will collate any posts that use these hashtags: #EduSkyUK and #EduUK I'm hoping it will help people create the education community we used to have on Twitter. You can pin it here: bsky.app/profile/did:...

Similarly Freire talks about regimes of traditional education perpetuating a model of oppression as tool to retain dominance. It is challenging to speak truth to power.

What a fabulous question. If we take a foucauldian view point power knowledge and truth are inextricably linked, in that one speaks to another and every exercise of power depends on a knowledge that supports it.

Agree about the conditions for leadership also. We need the right conditions for everyone to thrive.

Totally. Deep learning takes time, hard work, effort, compassion, understanding. The Education System isn't geared up for it.

010

Steven Richards-Downes @stevenrd70.bsky.social · 31/08/2024

Definitely. The issues stem from an improvement right now culture. Compassion does have a human toil and toll on leaders the problem with both is that the compassion is not always reciprocal and is often confused with 'being nice to people where our compassion must be about learners first.

1.Quality of leadership because it creates the space for wellbeing of staff and improvement. 2.Quality of teaching as it improves life chances of Learners. 3. Stopping relentless legislation and guidance as the education workforce does not need this unnecessary pressure.

If you happen to be in Swansea soon, keep an eye out for these individually designed castles. There’s a trail of them (32) throughout the city to raise awareness of, and funds for, the Wales Air Ambulance Charity. Here’s all the info you need swanseacastles.co.uk
