Wanted to announce that a new game prototype is up on fieldofmars.com: Zapata: The Mexican Revolution in the South. The game is intended for two players but also has a basic solo AI to allow new players to learn the system.

Working on a new online boardgame, Zapata, on the Mexican revolution in Morelos and the surrounding states. Zapata's goal is to create a "liberated zone" of autonomous villages, but he also needs to extract resources from the area to defend it, and peasants aren't always going to go along.

Hi - announcing that I've put a new boardgame prototype, Digvijaya: Religious Rivalry in Medieval India, up on my fieldofmars.com website. It's designed for three players, but also has an AI to allow one- or two-player games. Thanks again to Tor Andersson for the use of his Rally the Troops system.

Hi - just announcing that I've put on online version of my boardgame Angria, on corsairs on the coasts of 18th century India on a new playtesting site, Campus Martius (fieldofmars.com) that uses the popular Rally the Troops system. I'd welcome any playtesters if you're up for a game!

Back from @fortcircle.bsky.social's CircleDC, where I had a chance to demo Angria (18c Indian corsairs) and Digvijaya (medieval Indian religion), and try out Hellraisers of Kanawha County (1911 labor struggle), Drachen (WW1 recon), and Chalice of Poison (Iran-Iraq war). Impressions to follow.

A group of researchers have recreated the clothing of medieval Nubian royalty and clergy from the wall paintings in the cathedral of Faras, which sits at the border of modern Egypt and Sudan.

I'm happy to share that a week ago I was part of the San Diego Historical Games Convention @sdhistcon.bsky.social for the first time. My main objective was to show my game, Palmares, to players, publishers, and designers to help determine which direction I should pursue next. #sdhist2024

Next up from @sdhistcon.bsky.social is Palmares, a game about the quilombos - communities of people who escaped from slavery - in 17th century Brazil, and their resistance to attempts to re-enslave them. The designer is Artur Cavalho. The photo is from its Boardgamegeek page.

I'm a bit late, but am putting up some posts on the games I played at @sdhistcon.bsky.social last weekend. First up is Tipping Point, a fast-moving 2-player game on the US political system. Please forgive the blurry photos. #wargaming #boardgames

Working on my prototype of Angria, a boardgame about the early 18th century Maratha navy and its attempt to take control of the west Indian sea trade from the Mughals, Portuguese and East India Company.

Another game I got to try (albeit briefly) at SDHistCon was Captaincy, by John Carnahan, covering small-scale naval warfare from the 16th century to the Napoleonic wars with an emphasis on the handling of your ship.

Just got back from SDHistCon in San Diego. I had a chance to play a number of games, but I'll start out with Tyranny of Blood, on intercaste competition in British-dominated India - a very clever way of making a game around long-term social forces.
