Exidious pin-up for issue 1. The comic is a throwback to the Early Image Comics of the 90s, so I was commissioned to do this homage to a Rob Liefeld page.

Icarus: the Champion cover pencils. I'm working on a few different types of concepts. Not the typical hero in heroic pose type of composition. Here, we have a fighter pilot seeing Icarus flying, with Icarus being reflected in the pilot's visor. #icarus #icarusthechampion #coverconcept #creatorowned

Supernatural/ The X Files tribute. What I wouldn't give to draw a comic book team-up of these two properties. Sam and Dean get involved in some sort of case, posing as FBI agents, Henley and Walsh. Then, the real FBI shows up. Enter Fox and Scully. Hijinks ensue. @dynamitecomics

Stephen Colbert pencil sketch. (July 2025) This man is a satirical genius. He played a right-wing nut job for years until he could no longer stomach it because of the nut job right-wingers. I cannot wait to see what's next for Stephen. I know I'll be watching. #stephencolbert

Malcolm Jamal Warner (1970 - 2025) Best known for playing Theo on The Cosby Show - but whenever I think of him, I think of the music video for "N.E. Heartbreak" by New Edition that he directed. What are some of your favorite roles that he played over the years? #malcolmjamalwarner

Indiana Jones & the Last Crusade tribute in progress. When I'm in an artistic funk, I'll often sit & go through images by artists like. Today's search led me to a lot of Struzan & Raats, which led me to a lot of Indiana Jones images. That led to me sketching this. Hope y'all like it, so far...

Compiling some reference shots for potential use in an upcoming project. Spoke for a bit with one of the writers of this project. Discussed world building, expanding the existing media these screenshots were taken from, comic book influences, the joys of being a Southpaw and a little color theory.

Screenshots of building exterior (mental institution), patient locked in a room. Camera pulls further away from panel to panel as panels shrink slightly. Last panel is smaller and tilted, giving an almost vertigo feel.

For SUPERMAN DAY, I decided to do a recreation of a John Byrne cover from his run in the 1980s, inking a blueline of the original art, rather than do a complete recreation. You'll notice the action figure Byrne called America Man has a different look & color notes than that of the published comic.

Steven A Wilcox @stevenawilcox.bsky.social · 18/04/2025

Happy SUPERMAN Day!!! 87 years ago today, (Apr 18, 1938), Action Comics #1 debuted and with it, the first appearance of Superman. (Cover to 1986's MAN OF STEEL issue 1 by John Byrne.)

Superman and Krypto sketch. First thing I've drawn in weeks that I'm actually happy with. "Tennis Elbow" as an artist is no joke. Modeled Krypto after my Izzi. (Minus the brown patches.) I'll probably change Superman's suit to his traditional suit. #Superman #krypto

Pencil portrait of my dad from 7 yrs ago today. The picture that I used as reference is of my dad, me and my oldest/first born, Jordan, who is now 31. This is how I see my dad when I picture him. Young, smiling, probably making a sarcastic comment or two. Can't believe he's been gone over 7 years.

Today's warm-up, recreating pencils for this splash page from Wolverine 17, breakdowns by John Byrne and finishes by Klaus Janson. Going to ink this in a more traditional style. Try to bring a little more of the Byrne-vibe to it that was buried by the inks/finishes.

This started out as a recreation of a Jim Lee #Superman cover but decided to make it a homage instead. Someone suggested I use the sketch for an Icarus: The Champion piece. I thought about it but went with another character, Bluestar, instead. #icarus #bluestar #jimlee #homage
