For the new followers: behold my work! Project: PHTANUM I have worked on Phtanum for over 6 years now. Phtanum is an alien planet with red flora, over 250 designed species, over 25 unique biomes, and a human storyline on top. Phtanum is featured in the Natural History Museum in Niebüll, Germany.

A new phtanumian landscape! A basketmouth rears its mouth into the air, feeding on an air algal bloom. Normally the herbivore uses it to graze on bushes. Such blooms can color the entire sky a deep crimson.

Phtanum - FALLEN ANGEL! A broken red windwhale, its wingspan bordering 250 meters, flails aimlessly to the ground. Heavily wounded by the dragons still hovering miles above it, the crash will kill it on impact. The death of this deific being will nourish the local community.

Menschen denken schon seit der Antike darüber nach, ob es Leben außerhalb der Erde geben könnte. Der erste „Exoplanet", ein Planet außerhalb unseres Sonnensystems, wurde 1995 entdeckt. Seitdem hat die Menschheit über 5700 Exoplaneten entdeckt. Dazu zählen Welten, die gar nicht in unser typisches Bild von Planeten wie wir sie kennen passen:
Heiße Gasriesen oder Lavaplaneten. Doch von den Außerirdischen fehlt immer noch jede Spur.

Ein Licht in der Dunkelheit?
Das sogenannte Fermi-Paradoxon weist auf diese Diskrepanz hin. Es wiederum greift auf die Drake-Gleichung zurück. Diese wird zur Abschätzung der Anzahl der intelligenten Zivilisationen in der Milchstraße genutzt. Momentaner Stand: Gerade ist die Wahrscheinlichkeit anderen intelligenten Lebens in der Milchstraße eher gering.

Es ist zu erwarten, dass außerirdisches Leben, so wie irdisches, der Evolution unterliegen würde. Die einzige Alternative wäre das schnelle aussterben besagten Lebens.

Das unsichtbare Erahnen
Das Phtanum-Projekt versucht anhand von Interpretation wissenschaftlicher Prozesse, Daten, Fakten und einem Sprinkler Kreativität die Frage zu lüften: wie könnten Außerirdische aussehen?
In dem Sinne ist das gesamte Projekt ein riesiges wissenschaftsbasiertes Gedankenexperiment. Hunderte designeten Spezies und über 20 Lebensräume sind bisher konzipiert.

Der Planet Phtanum
Phtanum ist ein Gesteinsplanet mit einem Durchmesser von 21412 Kilometern - weitaus größer als die Erde mit ihren 12756 Kilometern. Dementsprechend ist die Schwerkraft hier höher. Der Planet besteht aus Materialien die in anderen Mengen vorkommen als auf der Erde. Dies wiederum hat Einfluss auf die Ressourcen, auf die mögliches Leben hier zugriff hätte und somit in welche Richtung dessen Evolution geleitet wird.

Phtanum - Gaze upon the Light of Luzemir! The only star of the Phtanum system is a G-type like the Earthen sun, though significantly older. Its high metallicity is what keeps it from entering its bloating phase though- it suspectedly still has around a billion years or so to go.
