Why is there so much death, destruction, and chaos when Trump is in office? Trying to figure out the common thread. What can explain it?

Directionally, Trump 2.0 completely misaligned with what MAGA “voted for”. surveillance state ⬆️ war ⬆️ deficits ⬆️ corruption ⬆️ lawfare ⬆️ economy ⬇️ states rights ⬇️ personal freedoms ⬇️ epstein disclosures ⬇️ except they got terrorizing immigrants and lgbtq folks and deregulation.

The only reasonable inference to make from this is these are the only four things in the bill that Americans broadly support and the hundreds of other things and the bill in general is NOT.

Stephen Miller is making Trump look BAD! Not only is he terrible on TV, but Trump allowing him to dictate policy so much makes Trump look WEAK! Miller with his high profile ICE raids, use of military against protesters, and picking a fight with Newsom who is GOOD on TV will hurt Trump and help Dems!

Only MAGA Republicans can unironically talk about how obvious it was that Biden was too old and cognitively diminished to continue serving as POTUS while actively electing and defending a demonstrably mentally ill octogenarian with far worse cognitive deficits.

The vile reactions from some MAGA supporters to Biden’s cancer diagnosis are appalling. Democrats took action and replaced a sitting president who wouldn’t step down. MAGA whined about that—then turned around and doubled down on their clearly senile octogenarian. They have no ground to stand on.

The poster-child for the word "transactional" just accepted a $400M gift from Qatar. Which means that Qatar expects to benefit a minimum of $400M in return for the gesture (but likely 10-100x more). Just so you know, that value comes from trading away the interests of everyday Americans.

Our democracy is completely undefended, our executive branch completely and openly compromised without more than a shallow veneer of pretense otherwise, feckless legislative branch suffering from collective action problem, a SCOTUS who will be ignored regardless… abcnews.go.com/Politics/tru...

Trump backtracked on China tariff stance and Powell pressure campaign in effort to lift markets as Tesla reported horrendous earnings. The market jumped in thin after-hours trading, but Polymarket only thinks recession odds went from 55% to 54%.

WHAT ELSE DO YOU NEED TO SEE AT THIS POINT? If you know what I’m talking about, then you know the answer is you’ve seen enough.

Not enough people understand how much more dire this is than just stocks going down. A manufactured crisis was never going to bring down yields. Now we will have the worst of both worlds.

Reminder: - The avg American thought foreign aid was 20-30% of US budget. - On avg they wanted it to be 10%. - In reality it was < 1%. - DOGE’s cuts are estimated to kill 3-4M ppl globally within a year (per grok3 deepsearch).

Just absurd that the random Sunday morning grift, while not his largest grift, is larger than the real or imagined cumulative grift of any other POTUS ever.

Gulf of America is by far the best thing Trump has done so far. The bar is low.

There are a lot of dumb arguments that are made in favor of Bitcoin. And it tends to make the actual merits of $BTC a little more suspicious to people who are thinking critically about it.

Money is essentially an IOU for future labor that doesn’t yet exist. Over time, paper wealth has been hoarded and concentrated, creating imbalances. At some point, it may no longer buy the labor or value we assume it can today—unless AI makes everything arbitrarily cheap 🤪

I had 3 unvaccinated family members DIE IN THE SAME WEEK from covid in Jan 2022 and it pisses me off so much when morons like fake-Jesus Russell Brand say stuff like this. Not to mention the lack of understanding of survivorship bias, which persists in the replies 🤦‍♂️

New paper out in @ScienceMagazine! In 8 studies (multiple platforms, methods, time periods) we find: misinformation evokes more outrage than trustworthy news, when it does it's shared more + ppl are less likely to read before sharing. w/ @killianmcl1 @Klonick @mollycrockett 🧵👇

One of the truisms of reality that I find most interesting is that the realized outcome of anything is always less likely than the maximum likelihood outcome as the universe of outcomes becomes less discretized and more continuous.
