Interesting. I expected it to be more of a puzzle box. There is an inversion, but not one based off some secret you don’t see right from the start.

This paper is interesting. It shows how mode collapse on something like “tell a story” is not well explained by pre or post training data prevalence.

I speed listened to this, then lost track of when the meeting was and flaked on bookclub. It was apparently a great discussion. Damn.

@mikecaulfield.bsky.social Plot.fyi doesn’t seem to have Tom Hanks first lead role Mazes and Monsters where a Dungeon and Dragons game makes him insane. Is it no Tv movies are included?

Thank you Youtube for injecting the McChicken advertisement right between Mein Kampf quotes during the lecture on fascism. It definitely pumps up the surrealism.

we went to a highly recommended pizza restaurant in Formia, Italy. the fact that the menu consisted of gorgeously made Italian pizzas with fresh local ingredients, and then also contained this monstrosity called a "pizza Americana" is S-tier trolling by the Italians

When he arrived in NYC it was the Beat folk scene that took RICHARD PRYOR in. Once you know he opened as a Singer for Bob Dylan & Nina Simone his singing “Nobody Knows You When You’re Down And Out” on the Kraft Summer Music Hall in 1966 makes sense.

I didn’t realize this was the start of a series … and one that has not been finished! I liked tge idea, but at the end of the day wasn’t happy with my choice on this for the book club.

Gpt reply w/r to show recommendation conversation — It suggests Shai prefers stylish, plot-forward shows with charm and momentum, while you tolerate more recursive, melancholy, structurally weird material.

For some reason this immediately made me think of Remo Williams: The Adventure Begins (1985) ... and I have no idea why. Do you have an intersect tags feature between 2 films?

claude code had a ui update where you can click on the answer to questions it asks you. This has the reliable effect of selecting a completely random answer as i try to give focus to the window.

I also noticed some ratings that seemed oddly low and it was definitely Rotten Tomatoes. Is there some oddity to how RT decides ratings that would explain it?

Proving something in Isabelle and Krull comes up. Every proper ideal sits in a maximal one? I'll admit I didn't quite get that from this movie as a kid. I guess it was some symbolism about the Glaive.

Have a bunch of gutenberg sentence embeddings (52M), but they were not matching. I was using the right model for the query, but I had embedded them with pytorch (fp16) long ago and was using an 8-bit gguf of the model now. - The vectors were not even remotely close.- fp16 in LM studio works.
