Everyone is talking about it & we will too at 1pm. How does it change the rest of the season? Is the appeal just for show or will a rabbit be pulled out of an expensive lawyers hat? Is this the end of City in the Premier League for a while? Definitely Maybe … #NFFC

www.transportnottingham.com/lets-get-bac... Some sound common sense advice in here on a subject that’s an issue around most schools. In Wollaton we have problems at Fernwood & Middleton schools. Finding effective solutions isn’t easy. As Cllrs we continue to work with parents, residents & schools.

When it came in I guess some thought it would stop clear errors but obviously it’s replaced them with VAR errors! A whole industry has been built around it. I suspect the vast majority of fans would scrap it if left to them to decide.

#NFFC first 5 games been a mixed bag. Things seemed to click at Liverpool & Villa. Home form fairly dire. Two 1-0 defeats from what were in all likelihood 0-0 ones. The ‘high bar’ to overturn goals by VAR doesn’t seem to apply at the City Ground. Glasner project will take time. We need patience.

It’s down to Cllrs to raise whatever issues they choose. The chair could have reminded them that many of the issues raised had already been covered but chose not to. The officer was excellent imo on pointing this out. Not all council planning meetings are like that.

Speaking at Nottingham City Council meeting yesterday about the welcome investment into the city after years of austerity. We need to keep this up to restore some pride, create new jobs and opportunities for residents.

Steve Battlemuch @stevebattlemuch.bsky.social · 14/09/2026

At the council meeting today I’ve spoken about the need to continue to work towards a rationalisation of local govt structures. I urged the council to dispel the misinformation given about the cities finances. We need fit for purpose structures for the next generation, not more of the status quo

All this talk of an extra bridge crossing needed … easy, expand the @trentnavigation.bsky.social towards the Trent & build the bridge directly into the ground. (I’m only half joking 😉). OK it’s not real is it but once planning is agreed then all stakeholders need to sort out the transport issues.

CT & Govt Grants make up a large amount of councils income. Some comes from fees & charges. Top Tier/Unitary councils get the most because they r responsible for Adult & Children’s social care which often eats into other budgets, which is why these councils face more crisis on funds than Districts.

000

Steve Battlemuch @stevebattlemuch.bsky.social · 08/09/2026

There is a formula based on the services each council delivers. In unitary councils (single tier) the council gets 100% of the pot obviously. In 2 tier because the Districts only deal with a very small amount of services they get around 10% of the funding.

#BookSky - a few years late to this but a cracking read. Makes you think about changing history & if you could do it, would you?

151

Steve Battlemuch @stevebattlemuch.bsky.social · 08/09/2026

2/2 - The much needed restructuring of councils has been paused - not scrapped - this will leave the wasteful duplication in Notts of 9 councils where 2 is sufficient. The people cheering the delay are happy with the duplication. I hope the govt review is rapid as we need to push on.

120

Steve Battlemuch @stevebattlemuch.bsky.social · 08/09/2026

Just a reminder that those who defend 2 tier councils often talk about how local decision making matters. Trouble is the districts control less than 10% of the overall budget. They are obviously comfortable with 90% of the budget being controlled by county Cllrs. 1/2

They are MPs and don’t any money from this development. The council own the freehold and the club are going to buy it. Everyone thinks that is the right thing to do.
