From the countryside of Wales, just outside Cardiff U.K. Son of a coal miner (now deceased) who encouraged me to pursue education as much as possible. Think I’ve got a good idea of the problems we face. Not so arrogant as to know all the answers.

Some blatant attempts at spreading propaganda. Hasn’t she gone back to her long term holiday home yet - inspiring the locals.

Planting a false rumour which some people will take up and convince themselves that it must be true

‘Warns’ being the emotive word, with an indecisive conclusion

Sadly, as a U.K. observer, I’m bound to ask if this just reflects discontent with Republicans, rather than better options from Democrats.

Mmmm. Seem to remember a similar confidence in his enthusiasm for Brexit (he doesn’t seem to talk much about that. 🤔

That’s not how I interpreted it.

Would I be right in assuming a lot of these ‘recruits’ are from poorer rural communities, than affluent places such as cities etc or the elite.

I think there’s a subtle difference between the terms ‘scrap’ and ‘reform’.

Doubt whether that was his intention

I wonder if he has air conditioning in his ‘other’ home ? Dubai is it ? Quite a warm place I believe

Must admit I hadn’t read that anywhere

I think this glorification of increased wealth being directed to the few elite may lead to increased tension and unrest amongst the majority who work hard without seeming to get anywhere. C’mon boys start picking on a few more minorities as a distraction 🤫

There’s a lot of opinion from politicians and columnists. Isn’t the end result depending on actual labour party members ?

Steve @steveb07.bsky.social · 07/06/2026
Did he even give her a chance to breathe ? I could think of nothing worse than sitting by a reform uk member at a dinner party - you’d never be able to get a word in !

Good grief - who the hell cares !!

We could end up without a Labour mayor of Manchester, and having now confirmed the standing down of a Labour MP to make way for Burnham - a Reform MP instead. Double blow. Hell of a risk.

Wales, collectively, voted for Brexit (heavily influenced by Farrage) Should any this really be a surprise.

If ever a reason was needed for U.K. re-joining the E.U. Trump is providing it.

Absolutely. People should remember the huge support many in the media gave to Brexit, no regret …..

A lot of those protesting and calling for Starmer to go, are doing so with glee, not concern.
000
Steve @steveb07.bsky.social · 21/04/2026
Not surprising with a predominantly right wing media.

At what point ? At that point in time when the British finally decided the Conservatives weren’t up to the job - so about 12 years to go 🤔. Ask again then.

Does this include weapons that the EU has committed to buying, on behalf of Ukraine.

As annoying as all the protest marches in Dubai or the Gulf States 🤔😏 (Yes, I’m being cynical)

Once again Trump insults us. As he and his sycophants did some months ago against us and our European allies in previous wars.

Steve @steveb07.bsky.social · 07/03/2026
Is it valid ?

Steve @steveb07.bsky.social · 07/03/2026
Similar remarks to his/and his sycophants, regarding our involvement in previous wars and America having to save us/Europe.

What I find intriguing is that despite years of running down our armed forces by the conservatives, we still have military forces to be proud of. But to the critics, this boat, this one single boat was the key to solving all problems 🤔😏

I see plenty of people being interviewed re there opinion on voting intentions etc. But I can’t recall many (any ?) people from Clacton …. Being interviewed.

I wonder if those expats who slagged off the UK Govt before moving to the Gulf States for tax avoidance, will demand that the U.K Govt ‘rescue’ them 🤔

Daily Mail. A paper I believe mainly owned by Jonathan harmsworth, 4th viscount rothermere. Who lives mostly in France as a tax exile. But owns lots of land in Dorset.

Wonder how the good citizens of Monaco feel about all these ‘migrants’ taking over their territory (tax exiles).

Thank you for your helpful reply. I believe that although owners have this right, there should also be an openness regarding ownership etc so the public are fully informed as to possible political bias and allegiance. The public may then judge the value of the news they provide? And why.

A very damaging media who supported Brexit/Farage/Liz Truss.. But what do we know about the Owners. The Editors ? Where’s the accountability/transparency ? Remember the Leveson Inquiry ? Suddenly blocked from continuing - in whose interests ?

I’ll finish by reiterating that I believe Zack to be a decent man. I also feel that Starmer is a decent man (and certainly not a liar). I believe that Zack should also see that, and empathise, realising that Zack could be in a similar situation one day. But I guess I’m politically naive.

Interesting. I don’t think anyone would recommend a person of that description knowing all the info/facts at our disposal now. But equally, there were many prominent people who applauded this decision with the info available at the time.

Ahh. I’m sorry, I think I understand you. But in a loose way it’s almost like saying H.R. depts (let’s assume McSweeny in this) are pointless, never to be-trusted on their decision making/recommendations.

I think you’re right. But I believe that changes are fast coming with Starmer in charge. Change of leadership is time consuming ? and just achieves wild speculation and traps for possible successors.

Steve @steveb07.bsky.social · 08/02/2026
Thank you for your response. Replies don’t seem to relate back to the original point. So I’m not sure if you’re referring to my comments on Zack Polanski, or my criticism of the media during the Brexit campaign who, in my opinion, printed false statements of support for bexit which were misleading.

Steve @steveb07.bsky.social · 08/02/2026
Be very careful what you encourage. If it becomes so simple, it can easily apply to anyone for any ‘implied’ mistake of judgement. I quite like Zack, but he’s now beginning to lose his air of ‘empathy’ and joining the rest of the ‘hunting pack’.

I guess the one positive take on this is that we’re unlikely to bump into Celia Walden if we’re in London.

A mention I made the other day. To lift a quote from the former P.M. Theresa May. Reform UK are now the 'Nasty Party’.
