Okay, I kind of love the corndogs if they were for renovated bathrooms at a fair, but yeah, this is a travesty.

Honestly, moved here from a Chicago burb, had kids & am now in a Minneapolis burb & I hate Minnesota Halloween. Why does trick or treating start when it's dark? We don't even have sidewalks in my neighborhood. Trunk or treat in daylight makes sense for young kids/toddlers (mine still trick or treat)

RIP Kmart, I miss buying wide calf boots and Jillian Anderson (yes, she sucks) workout clothes from you, but man is this pretty.

I said I was "typing" on keyboards. I would venture most people do in fact still use paper & a writing implement in their day to day lives. You'd be shocked to learn my kids still have to learn how to write in school, too.

Do you not just talk to each other? If I'm not going to be home for dinner, then I tell my husband and he remembers. Or I can shoot him a text. We have a few things on our shared calendar: kids swim lessons, Dr appt, a weekend event. But we also mostly just communicate & keep our routine.

Yet I'm still typing on keyboards (even screen ones) not using gesture control. Even things like smart speakers, which have been on the market since 2014 & are relatively inexpensive, only 35% of US adults own one.

Plus meal planning apps without AI have been around a long time. Acting like you invented the wheel when you could use Plan to Eat and have all the same features plus some is kind of wild.

Is it also going through all your cabinets to let you know not to purchase items you already have? Meal planning and making the grocery list is about 1 hour of my time a week. I guess I'm not sure how this is saving that much time.

I can spot Dustin Hoffman anywhere and have never gotten him and Pacino mixed up, but I think that's because I saw Hook in my formative years.

It's Poltergeist. I had to look it up because I second guessed myself when I immediately knew it, but the scary movie part of my memory appears to be a steel trap.

I'm concerned I recognized this when the last time I saw this movie was in the 1990's and I was in middle school.

The "FBI" ICE costume has been removed from their website, too, but that was a 3rd Party item that was just hosted on their site, not actually sold by Target. Not great, but still a bit different than this fiasco

Holy crap, this feels crazy. I lived at 19th and 2nd for like a decade, and while I wouldn't say it was a particularly crime free neighborhood, I don't recall anything even remotely like this.

My friend rented one with another of her friends for a birthday party. I'm 4'11" and couldn't reach the pedals. It was still miserable, why am I stuck on an outdoor "bar" in August where I had to supply my own booze and I can't actually move around and talk to anyone but the people next to me?

Think cheesy grits, but slightly different texture. I like to put green onion, fake sausage (vegetarian, but husband likes real breakfast meats in his), cheese and butter. We also eat Masala Oats quite often.

My district has a "must be potty trained" rule for pre-k, but I sent my 3yo old boys in pull ups bc accidents were still a thing when they started (both summer bdays) & I didn't want teachers to have to clean up in case. They call parents if an accident happens. Only had 1 call each, both were sick.

My mom had 5 kids but was always very liberal so whenever some suburban Catholic woman at church made a comment about her feminism, she would point out their 2 children to her 5.

You can do a fast track if you demonstrate you know Catholic teaching well & get permission. My dad (Lutheran) was offered this by our priest because he was married in the Catholic church, raised 5 kids who were all confirmed, and attended Mass for like 2 decades.

stephmarlowe.bsky.social @stephmarlowe.bsky.social · 04/07/2026
Oh totally! I didn't think you were. I'm not surprised, but in college at my Catholic student center people would talk about it despite it happening 20 years before any of us were born. The Church is so old, 60 years isn't very long, I suppose, but it's also a stand in for progressive/conservative.
010
stephmarlowe.bsky.social @stephmarlowe.bsky.social · 03/07/2026
The schism part is new, around 6000,000 people (or more) are excommunicated if they don't stop being involved/going to those churches. Anyone with upcoming weddings in their churches will no longer have valid Catholic marriages, when before this they would have. It's kind of wild.
130
stephmarlowe.bsky.social @stephmarlowe.bsky.social · 03/07/2026
The part that's going to be interesting is seeing if this has further implications with traditionalists not a part of the society, such as Opus Dei (which JD Vance seems to have ties to.) We can only hope that JD with his entire BS book about converting will be excommunicated!
190
stephmarlowe.bsky.social @stephmarlowe.bsky.social · 03/07/2026
And a schism is big. All of the priests, nuns, and people involved in any Society of St Pius churches are excommunicated if they do not leave, which is honestly pretty harsh, but fair, they keep doing schismatic acts, they don't get to be Catholic.
060
stephmarlowe.bsky.social @stephmarlowe.bsky.social · 03/07/2026
This was later reversed by Pope Benedict in an effort to get them to get their crap together. They instead decided to ordain more bishops yesterday and Pope Leo is not having it. So this time instead of just excommunicating the bishops, he's saying it's a schism.
0120
stephmarlowe.bsky.social @stephmarlowe.bsky.social · 03/07/2026
And these guys did not like any of the changes, they wanted a more conservative & traditional Church, so they made their own group, which was okay, until they decided to ordain their own bishops, which is a big no-no. So Pope John Paul 2 excommunicated those bishops.

stephmarlowe.bsky.social @stephmarlowe.bsky.social · 03/07/2026
Ha. Well there's this super conservative group of priests, they started after Vatican II, which was a big overhaul in the church where changes were made like saying mass in the vernacular (language used in the area) instead of Latin, it was considered a fairly progressive change in the Church.

I'm not against simple, I actually don't think any of the finalist designs are complicated. But some of the changes make me like the final flag less. The shape of the star, for instance, the originals use the most common design for the North Star, which makes better sense.
110
stephmarlowe.bsky.social @stephmarlowe.bsky.social · 17/06/2026
I feel like the issue is they showed us all the designs that were submitted, all of the top finalists from the contest were better than what we have. Don't get me wrong, the old flag was way worse. The state seal, on the other hand, amazing.
