When I see a photo, such as the one of a Black woman surrounded on a DC train by Patriot Front shit stains, I am both sure it will appear in the history books and very unsure how it will be captioned.
Photographer Cheney Orr captured an image of a Black woman sitting on a Metro train surrounded by members of the white nationalist group Patriot Front. Now, that photo is going viral (Reuters)

Update: Nashville Files to Obtain Property Near Nashville Zoo
Mayor's Office Files Legislation for Condemnation Authority

Today, Mayor Freddie O’Connell filed condemnation legislation which would allow Metro to take ownership of property near the Nashville Zoo.

“We’re filing this condemnation legislation because Metro has a legitimate need for this property. I have carefully followed the concerns from the community and the Zoo and also remain deeply concerned about the proposed use,” Mayor Freddie O’Connell said. “With the closure of Metro Southeast and departments -- from the fire department to NDOT -- needing expansion space and in transition, we have a variety of needs in Metro.”

A May Gallup poll found that seven in 10 Americans oppose constructing data centers in their local area, with nearly half strongly opposed.

Jeff Uphues, DC BLOX's CEO, appeared on the Let’s Get Digital podcast on May 13.

“Once you start explaining the tax base impact on schools and the community, people really understand,” Uphues said on the podcast. “When we now go into communities, people respond to the fact that we're transparent from the beginning. We answer questions without technology speak. We meet person by person, group by group, town hall by town hall. We invest the time.”

DC BLOX did not respond to a request for comment.

If there's a litmus test for who I think should be leading Apple's design decisions, it is whether they think rearranging my home screen would _ever_ be a good idea. www.macrumors.com/2026/01/22/new-ap…
Excerpt from a MacRumors story:

> Federighi apparently viewed AI as unpredictable and difficult to control, preferring deterministic software behavior that could be clearly specified during design reviews. He rejected proposals to use AI to dynamically reorganize the iPhone home screen, arguing that such changes would confuse users.

An illustration of a man and a woman standing in front of a convenience store in the rain. The woman is pregnant and sitting on a coin-operated horse while the man uses a payphone while holding a phone book. Between them, a small, glowing plant springs up in the crack in the sidewalk.

In the image, there are subtle and not-so-subtle references to the birth of Christ. "Dave's City Motel" has a no-vacancy sign. The woman is wearing a Nazareth High School sweatshirt. The man's work shit says José. The grafiti on the side of the payhone says "ZEKE 34 15-16". The cigarette ad is for a brand called Weisman, and the store sells Starr Beer and Good News candy. Behind the man is an obscured sign that likely reads "Elect Herod Antipas". The newspaper on the ground advertise Shepherd Watches, along with other ads for Glad and Tide. A bumper sticker on the payphone has part of the word "Gloria!". Other graffiti has "Flesh" and "Word".

Today I learned ESPN thinks the massive construction project next to Nissan Stadium is merely a "proposal" and would somehow be ready a year earlier than actually scheduled. 🤨 www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/3939538…
From the article:

"""
Nissan Stadium opened in 1999, and it's the home of the Tennessee Titans and Tennessee State Tigers as well as the TransPerfect Music City Bowl. It was previously known as Adelphia Coliseum, the Coliseum and LP Field. The Titans paused renovations in 2022, and there's a proposal to build a new stadium (New Nissan Stadium) that the team would move into in 2026.

He broadcast the performance live on Facebook (see below), and at one point was asked by an onlooker to give a mock award-acceptance speech. “Nobody needs a machine gun, and that’s comin’ from a guy who owns quite a few guns,” he said. “Gay people should have the right to be happy and live their life any way they want to and get married if they want to without fear of getting drug down the road behind a pickup truck. Black people are probably tired of getting shot in the streets and being enslaved by the industrial prison complex. Hegemony and fascism is alive and well in Nashville, Tennessee.
