It is so incredibly sad to watch Trump singlehandedly make everything about the USA less than it was. The world hopes it can be fixed but is less than optimistic.
A picture of a dark grey T shirt with Trump's head as he pulls a weird face. The text reads: The Diminisher

For the first time in 50 years, America lost its status.

American democracy is in a “much faster deterioration process than any other democracy in modern times.”

The Polity project, a third independent dataset used by political scientists for half a century, now classifies the United States as an anocracy, a hybrid system, writing bluntly that the country is “no longer considered a democracy and lies at the cusp of autocracy.”

I am very content to live in a democracy which enables anyone to stand for public office, including Count Binface and a Fox. It's all part of being British...

Beside a picture of the planet earth in a saucepan of boiling water on a flaming stove, the text reads:

The boiling frog premise is that if a frog is put suddenly into boiling water, it will jump out, but if the frog is put in tepid water which is then brought to a boil slowly, it will not perceive the danger and will be cooked to death.

The story is often used as a metaphor for the inability or unwillingness of people to react to or be aware of sinister threats that arise gradually rather than suddenly.

I can’t help thinking of our planet as a boiling frog...

US citizens ask what the rest of the world think about Trump. This sums it up perfectly.

If you’re stuck with time on your hands, how about this? In Utrecht, Netherlands, there’s a Fish Doorbell that allows the public to tell lock keepers when fish are waiting to get through a canal lock to their spawning grounds. Sometimes humans do the right thing… visdeurbel.nl/en/

I have been told by Bluesky that I am registered as under 18 and need to undergo an age verification process. I am 68! I'm really, REALLY suspicious though when it turns out that the age checking outfit, KWS, insist on being given my credit card details. Not going to happen. Deeply disappointing.

Only seven of these UK warning signs are genuine. Which are fake do you think?

“Through your actions, you have embarrassed us in the eyes of our children, humiliated us on the world stage and, worst of all, divided us as a nation.”

I remember when Boris Johnson was attempting to
bypass UK Parliament and shut it down so
he could get his own way.

Many commentators openly wished we had a system of checks and balances like the US Constitution to reign
him in. Sadly, it appears the US Constitution may
not be quite as robust as we thought.

I sincerely hope the USA survives this awful time
intact so it can rebuild and regain the
world’s respect and trust.

In 2016 17,410,742 people voted for UK’s Brexit. In 2024 77,302,580 people voted for USA’s Trump. While coping with the awful consequences of those elections, please be kind to those who wish they hadn’t voted the way they did. They are suffering as much as everyone else.

This reminds me about a time when the British military had to be ordered to stop calling local citizens 'Bennies' (after a moronic TV soap character). Soon afterwards they began calling them 'Stills'. Still Bennies. Still FOTUS then?

6/10 Aaaaargh, bad memory! When I was in junior school in the 1960s we had the world’s worst toilet paper. It was a form of grease-proof paper, that smelled of antiseptic and caused havoc you know where!
A roll of the dreaded toilet paper used in junior schools in the 1950s and 60s. It was much like very thin cardboard that smelled of antiseptic which, when folded, could cause some nasty paper cuts just where you least want them!
