Why would anyone want this on? Anyway, I'm glad Tidal gives me this option.
A turned off checkbox with descriptive text: "When on, music labeled with the AI badge will be playable. To prevent AI-labeled music from playing, switch this off. (Tracks will appear greyed out.)"

The whole point of Cloud Compute is that we consumers pay a premium to be able to treat it like it's infinite. We can turn on and off things on demand. When it's not infinite, it shatters this arrangement and then we are just being taken for a ride. Super frustrating! #aws #ec2

We currently do not have sufficient i8g.8xlarge capacity in the Availability Zone you requested (us-east-1a). Our system will be working on provisioning additional capacity. You can currently get i8g.8xlarge capacity by not specifying an Availability Zone in your request or choosing us-east-1b, us-east-1c, us-east-1d.

Standard Nextdoor NIMBY claptrap in Boulder. A downtown surface parking lot might be sold to a Hotel developer. Parking lot = local character. Hotel = community ruined. Oy vey!
I'm deeply concerned about the direction our city is heading. It feels like the City Council and County Commissioners are prioritizing developers (on the take?) over the residents, and it's heartbreaking to watch Boulder's unique character being systematically stripped away.A comment:

No offense but the "unique character" is already gone. The city is a congested tourist trap with overpriced homes and congested apartment housing. You're just remembering what it used to be.
Democratic cities always overdevelop. The only way you'll stop it is to start changing the political landscape, which wont happen anytime soon.

A reply:

Democrats ruined Houston and Dallas?

YouTube is kicking me off their “family” plan my brother pays for. Families are not defined by living together. Spouses can live apart. Children visit grandparents. They should call it the “Roommates” plan which would be more accurate.
YouTube says: Your Premium access will be paused on July 13, 2026.
Family plans require members to reside in the same household as the family manager. Check your email for options.

I just learned that if you hit "Command (⌘) + Delete" on something in the Trash folder in Mac OS, it puts it back where it came from. Neat!

If these standings hold up, HyperCard and the printers are way too low. All the youngins never had to do any desktop publishing before Laser/ImageWriter came around. And HyperCard? Revolutionary! Myst! The WWW was inspired by it!

Having an email that's {one letter}@site.tld, e.g. "s@site.com", is sometimes annoying. For example, Equifax won't accept it. It's completely valid and has worked for years. Doesn't give me much confidence in the intelligence of their programmers and their security. #equifax

Hill of hysteria. Change proposed -> as details of plan emerge fears inrease -> plans are implemented -> moment of maximum hysteria -> as plan beds in fears decrease -> realization that fears were unfounded -> overwhelming support for change

It's the year of our lord 2026 and #TurboTax from #Intuit is still an Intel Application. Apple started the transition to M-chips six years ago. The last Intel Mac was sold three years ago. Last year Intuit made $15B in profit. But they can't afford to bring their apps up to date?
TurboTax Mac OS info screen shows that Turbo Tax still uses Intel instead of ARM for their application.

Ten hours later and they’ve restored about 20K. At this rate it will take over two more days. You’re terrible at your job, #xcel. It gets windy like this every year. This is not unusual weather.

I keep checking the #xcel outage page. The wind has been much lower for at least a couple hours and yet these numbers have only gone up. So incompetent!

Imagine if an auto company sold a car that didn't work due to common weather and caused a massive chain pile-up at least once a year (due to no fault of your own), so they tell you not to drive it on those days. That would trigger a massive recall! Congress would investigate. #xcel
Xcel Energy is preparing for a strong wind event in Colorado in the coming days.

Weather forecasts include high winds and dry conditions for:

December 17

From 12 Noon MT

With these conditions, wildfire risk is expeced to increase along with prolonged power outages.

We strongly recommend that you take steps to prepare for a potential outage such as keepig your devices charged and building a kit with items that do not require electricity.

Your Safety Is Our Priority

The LA Diner closed 28 years ago 🙄 www.physics.drexel.edu/~goldberg/pr...
Here is another video with music on oldschool Boulder. Made me cry, all the old places we used to go to. So many people who haven't lived here that long will never understand why many of us are so upset with the changes. Boulder has lost so much--LA Diner, so many movie theaters and fun bars, restaurants, fun things to do. All this push for density makes me very sad. Do you guys remember when there were so many things to do--we had 4 or 5 movie theaters, a drive in theater, roller-skating, a big mall, 3 bowling alleys, many parks, and it was all safe. I wish we could have all that back. Go somewhere else if you want your density, and tons of apartment buildings everywhere. That is NOT what Boulder is. A graph showing that for many things including music, movies, and food, people think everything was best when they were around 14 years old

Nextdoor is Boomer Twitter part 71837103
Some boomer on Nextdoor writes quote:

Viola, 15 minute districts - as pushed in the “Great Reset” agenda of the WEF - are setting the stage to restrict travel and establish new ways of controlling and limiting the way people get around, the type of appliances used, and means of travel.

“Progressives” hijacked Boulder under cover of Covid, then severely damaged the thriving economy via extended lockdowns and a crime wave - clearing the way to pull the rug from under decades of carefully planned zoning. None of this hard-shove into high-density / mixed use developments would be tenable without first disrupting and destabilizing what was thriving and successful.

This same suite of color revolution tactics did similar harm in multiple cities around the country.

Earlier this year we replaced an ancient gas furnace+10 year old #heatpump with an new heat pump only system. Here's the first decently cold months usage for 2024 and the same time frame in 2023. Basically the same electricity usage, but we used 89% less gas (we have a gas clothes dryer).
Over the same time window we used 89% less gas in 2024 compared to 2023Over the same time window we used 1 kWh (less than 1%) more electricity in 2024 compared to 2023
