Throughout Britain this sort of thing is regarded as very conical, however, in Edinburgh it is truly Humerus.

That’s fine as a private opinion. Perhaps I should have said I am no more interested in the opinion of these persons on the topics I mention as i am of yours. As regards Tutu’s dictum, the vast majority who are vocal on this one issue are silent on others.

Unpopular opinion. I care as much about Ed Sheeran’s opinion on politics as I do about Andy Burnham’s on music and I couldn’t care less what they think of the likelihood principle, although I would like the latter to understand basic arithmetic.

Differences in differences are definitely inappropriate for randomised studies. The situation is more complicated for observational studies.

ANCOVA is also better for regression discontinuity designs. SACS (simple analysis of change scores) can be very misleading in that situation. SACS assumes the group regression is 1. ANCOVA assumes it is the same as the within group regression.

Change from baseline and analysis of covariance revisited - PubMed
The case for preferring analysis of covariance (ANCOVA) to the simple analysis of change scores (SACS) has often been made. Nevertheless, claims continue to be made that analysis of covariance is biased if the groups are not equal at baseline. If the required equality were in expectation only, this …

It’s (usually) inherently plausible that higher order effects are less important than lower ones (a fact that is exploited by fractional factorials). Furthermore, experiments use local control. I think the experimental situation is fundamentally different from surveys.

Nice discussion of representativeness issues for surveys but weren’t some of the Many Labs studies experiments? If representativeness is an issue for such studies (which is debatable) then it’s interactions (effect modification) rather than main effect bias (confounding) that matters.
