We tried to adopt a kitten, we set a day to see it and a member of staff then said actually they wanted it. Three week wait gives other people to adopt

I never have got why people want to see horror films. They're either not good, full of tropes etc. or they are scary and unnerving and last after wat hing the film

Never call an election you don't need to. You don't know what will happen between then and now. I think they will end up recovering to 30%, lose seats and need Lib Dems and Green in a coalition or confidence and supply

Lab plus Lib Dem was still short of a majority, and Brown didn't offer the Lib Dems anything until he realised the talks with the Tories were real. Lib Dem and Lab both lost seats, and the Tories were the largest party. We could have left the Tories as a minority govt, but that would have been worse

The options in 2010 were austerity, more austerity, or less austerity. Ppl voted for more austerity, and they got austerity. It was wrong, and led to Brexit, but that was the options given to people. Cameron was good at claiming Lib dem policies as their own, then blaming them for unpopular stuff

The progressive parties voters tactically vote. Reform voters aren't willing to in as large a number, so I think the effect would be limited

Stephen Pimm @stephenpimm.bsky.social · 01/08/2026
Gay marriage, increasing the tax allowance, limiting Tory austerity you mean to what Labour would have done anyway? We are in a period of coalitions with this number of parties. No party get all of their manifesto accepted by another

Every time you see FIFA remember, they took bribes to have football in Qatar, and they used slave labour to build the stadium. Equally, the head of FIFA has been given a jet by the Saudis

You mean get recruited by a secret society that lets you curve bullets, and you are tasked with killing your own father, who sacrifices himself to keep you out of the Fraternity?

Season 1 is great. The rest is a slog. Nothing happens, and no-one comes together at the end of the season so you don't feel like anything has been offered consequences

Help me understand why ppl have put up with dynamic pricing, the Americans not investing any money to improve their cities to cope with more fans, the blatant corruption, and it being held in another political dodgy country for sports washing?

Whilst people wait for that big structural issue to be fixed they are suffering. I think people are turning to populism because they've been promised sunlit uplands so often and got nothing

Stephen Pimm @stephenpimm.bsky.social · 12/06/2026
It should be unwatchable because they haven't fixed the corruption

'Moustache man' annoys me. But when your income is derived from being monetised and YouTube etc is touchy about certain phrases despite context, I understand why

The marina probably doesn't have planning permission for residential boats and so there should be a restriction on the amount of days you can stay over. Or move the boat onto the cut for the two weeks you're allowed before moving on

I was engaging in hyperbole. Obviously some people hate us, but not as many as other parties. The party has a seats first approach, and not chasing opinion polls. However, it is disappointing that we didn't expand in other areas
010
Stephen Pimm @stephenpimm.bsky.social · 21/05/2026
I rather think the Greens have peaked, as has Reform. Lib Dems are topping favourability in polls, basically no-one hates us. We also turned 12% of the vote into 12% of seats in 2024. If you look at where we have our strongest number of seats we're doing very well

How often has airstrikes or naval bombardment ever actually achieved regime change? I'm guessing zero

Stephen Pimm @stephenpimm.bsky.social · 21/05/2026
Votes in a general election don't match what you get in local elections. Take it from a Lib Dem
100
Stephen Pimm @stephenpimm.bsky.social · 19/05/2026
Well if we walk there, we restore PR to Mayor's and extend it to all local elections because the London assembly was PR

Stephen Pimm @stephenpimm.bsky.social · 19/05/2026
Lowest winner in May had 20% of the vote

Stephen Pimm @stephenpimm.bsky.social · 19/05/2026
In New Zealand Labour got more votes, the opposition got more seats. It completely broke the system and they brought in PR. Crucially, Conservatives and Labour are losing out, and it makes democracy unpredictable. We already have PR in Wales and Scotland, and had it for England Mayors for a while

Stephen Pimm @stephenpimm.bsky.social · 19/05/2026
They do have to be realistic, the trouble is they've been realistic before and been let down
100
Stephen Pimm @stephenpimm.bsky.social · 19/05/2026
When they shot up in the polls, it was said they were peaking too soon. The best thing we can do right now is have PR. I'm tired of asking people to vote tactically to beat Tory and Reform. I want people to vote for something, not against something
100
Stephen Pimm @stephenpimm.bsky.social · 19/05/2026
The increase in vote share from the Greens was enough to prevent Labour from holding many seats against Reform, but the votes going to Reform is Boris Johnsons electoral alliance of voters. I'm not saying I believe the govt is doing a bad job at delivery. I'm saying the bad part is communication
100
Stephen Pimm @stephenpimm.bsky.social · 19/05/2026
Well I'm not a Labour councillor. I just don't want a Reform national govt, so I just want someone who will keep the Labour vote from going to Reform
200
Stephen Pimm @stephenpimm.bsky.social · 19/05/2026
Yep, most of the papers want the govt to fail. Even though a better economy is better for everyone, although not always equally
010
Stephen Pimm @stephenpimm.bsky.social · 19/05/2026
Our side knows that the Tories messed everything up for 14 years, and it will take time to fix. Ppl have been promised a lot that hasn't been delivered. In an instant world ppl expect instant results. Starmer only got 34% of the vote, he started with a low base of support to start with
210
Stephen Pimm @stephenpimm.bsky.social · 19/05/2026
I'm not saying that I hold these views. I'm saying that someone who voted for austerity, then Brexit, then levelling up, then had massive govt intervention in COVID, wants everything fixed because they have voted for it time and again and they are impatient. They have waited ten years
100
Stephen Pimm @stephenpimm.bsky.social · 18/05/2026
In May my voters stuck with .e, and Reform probably took from Tory, Labour and from 'not normally vote' depends what messaging they're using, and strength of candidate
000
Stephen Pimm @stephenpimm.bsky.social · 18/05/2026
Starmer would need to be more passionate and the Ukraine and middle east wars would need to end so the cost of living is seen as under control by then
100
Stephen Pimm @stephenpimm.bsky.social · 17/05/2026
If the electorate was you and me that would be fine. But the electorate is a consumer at the moment. They need to be sold on what has been done and what the future looks like. If the MSM isn't doing it for you, you need to get the messaging direct to the consumer and sell it
210
Stephen Pimm @stephenpimm.bsky.social · 17/05/2026
No, I'd like governments to have a chance to enact what they've promised. But that isn't where we're at at the moment. Everyone was promised pain for some gain later on and it was the wrong pain for no gain, and now everyone wants immediate results
