admitting to violating the constitution again and again; the courts slowly begin to take note; the Rs are vocally silent again and again. bully in the pulpit; sheep in the pews, until they jump out of the corral

everything the administration does is a test case: can we get away with it & set a precedent that we can?

If president ordered cut off of satellite and info to Ukraine, does that constitute sabotage? does it violate a law passed by congress? does it look like favoring Putin? if so, does it like the diesel deal violated a law passed by congress? is sabotage,law-breaking, threats the way T makes "deals"?

bottom line: DOJ assurances are now worthless and many judges have not yet caught on to this widely known fact. It would be nice if DOJ took its obligations to courts as seriously as its obeisance to the king

given the judge's order, doj should have made sure email was monitored on a 24-hour basis…unless doj doesn't take the court seriously or was instructed to disregard it or to creatively delay implementation. Not just shameful - frightening. What if the order has been one halting "exiling" someone? oh

At this point the burden should shift in all courts: the federal government (such as it currently is) should have to demonstrate its procedures were regular & not motivated by vengeance, improper or unconstitutional objectives, and courts should do everything humanly possible for its victims.

as a matter of language and law, can there be an agreement if the two key parties haven't agreed? the statement of a third party that there is an agreement does not = an agreement. if that third party lacks credibility, the statement is not a revelation but only a claim or wish. that and a nickel …

To what degree do businesses who buy into the AI boom pressure employees to use it (a) because they believe it will increase creativity and efficiency or (b) because every other business is doing it or (c) because they spent alot and don’t want to let it look like the investment was/is foolish?

because these "proofs" have not been verified and vetted by human mathematicians and "peer" reviewed (who of like into an AI?), they are at best conjectures

multiply charges to users by 20x a for a tidy profit. If user companies have laid off say 10% of their workforce will anything other than adverse use of AI (like critical judges) induce those companies to drop AI and hire back the employees? Does the massive AI craze presage some other collapse?

but humor is far more ancient than LLMs. several decades ago, when spell check was already built into word processors, no one caught an error in a brief I wrote - arguing brilliantly, in the first paragraph, that something was or wasn't in "the pubic interest."

What about this as part of a pattern of vindictive or arbitrary prosecutions constituting massive abuse of process, redressable by injunctive relief requiring DOJ to provide courts more comprehensive record evidence of probable cause before commencing prosecution and similarly limiting arrest.

Putting to one side the sloppy misleading use of the term “communist” going back to HUAC days, is there now a Republican distinction between acceptable and unacceptable communists? If so, is there also such a distinction applied to capitalists or MAGAs? Or is everything merely friend/enemy?

DOGE given physical form. As others have noticed, this suggests a plot for apocalyptic sci-fi thriller. Movie plots aren’t smart guides to policy and serve better as cautionary tales.

Hotels run on a presumption of regularity and, in the first instance, presume the burden is on the departed paying guest to disprove a claim based on these presumptions. Who said capitalism was fair, reasonable, or puts the customer first?

i am waiting for a furious judge in one of these situations to either phone under president to order him to comply or order the president in person to appear before the court to explain or face sanctions. I'm not sure the SCt immunity applies to criminal contempt of court.

DT sees issue of conflict as attack on way he does business - he only does business, he does not govern much less presidentially. Everything is short term transaction for his immediate gratification - he is no steward of the common good. No doubt, his insider info will alert him before AI goes bust

he seems to be skilled at highlighting targets. as far as his genius strategy, imo militarily he would create a self contained but isolated tower that could only protect itself and a traffic circle. is this an Alamo delusion? or is it to be an exit point from a tunnel from the putative ballroom?

The president has a fiduciary responsibility to the constitution and the people. This self-serving and often insider trader is wholly inconsistent by with that moral and legal duty.

your point is solid - just as Trump is failing in his fiduciary responsibility to the US and its constitution. PS - 2nd sentence needs correction

Constitution: Anyone taking an oath of office in any branch of the US gov't, from President to private, is acknowledging and committing themselves to a fiduciary responsibility to "we the people" greater than and taking precedence over any "responsibility" to family, fortune, fame, or boss.

Many noncitizens need immigration records the government has to prove their legal stay and resist deportation. The government is redacting and withholding those documents, lawyers say.

they are still dismantling the New Deal as well as everything that came after (democratic and republican administrations). I would argue they are intent on hollowing out the republic, the constitution, and the social compact, and replacing it with an autocratic armed kleptocracy wo even compassion.

a new Farenheit 451 scenario where the underground saves books and the corporate governments feed the populace AI reconstructions of works and ideas through a black box of bots that none controls or the mysterious few oligarchs manipulate for their own nefarious ends. will it seem so novel, so dark?

stephenmj.bsky.social @stephenmj.bsky.social · 10/09/2026
perhaps books en masse should be deemed a world cultural heritage & destruction of them should be barred when done for profit or to save space. issues are tricky but an effective bookburning rampage to fatten the AI training package by companies who consider physical books trash food for a blender!

stephenmj.bsky.social @stephenmj.bsky.social · 10/09/2026
really threatens rarer books. but in a sense it follows on the sea change in the treatment of used books - for centuries a thriving trade, in the last decades it became increasingly difficult to sell used books, give them to libraries or friends, bookcases were going out of fashion. This is worse.

in terms of physical existence, in theory only a threat where there are few copies (of the particular edition or printing ... or, for very old, manually written works not copied and preserved in significant numbers), but even rare treasured works disappear over time. It is lazy, pernicious.

The rules seem simple: the lawyer who signs a filing is responsible for everything in the filing. That is always a heavy burden on a sole practitioner, and allowing a client to draft only increases the burden. I can’t see a workable modified rule to give more leeway to the underresourced atty.

Not weird; very foreseeable. From long before “Cheaper by the Dozen,” increasing “efficiency” was based on incomplete/overly optimistic analyses of how people think & work. Lawyers have been using computers & cabined databases for 40 yrs to work w client documents, w/o leaking to undefined chasms.

Consider the possibility that in courts’ continuing narrowing of the requirements for “standing” to sue the federal government for actions which are adverse to the general public or affect federal property the courts are heading toward an autocratic goal - no one can sue and government is above law.
