🎄 📚 A Christmas book post: Endless love to everyone who has supported #Kindred over the years - if you've read & loved it, consider gifting it to someone else this year, or you can give me a little 🎁 with a review! (on whichever website you prefer)

A walk up Plover Hill and Pen Y Ghent amidst dramatic skies in the Yorkshire Dales. My first Dales peaks bagged and I’m looking forward to tick off some more.

Late again with my read pile for February 2025. All good. Particularly enjoyed The Story of the Forest by Linda Grant and The L-Shaped Room by Lynne Reid Banks. Returning to a little ancient greek as well, mainly to get some D&D inspiration. 💙📚

Catching up what I read in January 2025. Finishing off some children’s / fantasy books from the Christmas break. Trying out some D&D related fantasy this year. I thought The Orchard On Fire by Shena Mackay was brilliant. 💙📚
A pile of the following books: Dragons Of Autumn Twilight by Margaret Weiss and Tracy Hickman, The Days Of Abandonment by Elena Ferrante, The Orchard On Fire by Shena Mackay, The Artificial Silk Girl by Irmgard Keun, Tom’s Midnight Garden by Philippa Pearce and The King Of The Copper Mountains by Paul Biegel.

Books finished in November. Not a bad one amongst them. The du Maurier is “Vanishing Cornwall” - the spine has faded. I seem to be on a subconscious mission to read as many VMCs as I can. 💙📚
A stack of books including All Passion Spent by Vita Sackville-West, Invitation To The Waltz by Rosamond Lehmann, Berg by Ann Quin, Vanishing Cornwall by Daphne du Maurier & On The Side Of The Angels by Betty Miller.

💙📚 Another late entry, this time for titles read in October 2024. Typically my spooky month, so we have Robert Aickman on usual terrifying form, the wide-ranging collection of stories in the Virago Book of Witches, and the enormous Mysteries of Udolpho (which could have been shorter).
Stack of books including Ann Radcliffe’s The Mysteries of Udolpho, Robert Aickman’s The Wine Dark Sea, The Virago Book of Witches and Miles Franklin’s My Brilliant Career.

💙📚 Just catching up with book reading update for September 2024. They by Kay Dick is chilling. Drive Your Plow was an engaging and original who-done-it. I’m not sure about the Yoko Tawada titles.
Stack of books including They by Kay Dick, The Last Children of Tokyo and Memoirs of a Polar Bear by Yoko Tawada, The Rooster House by Victoria Belim and The Shooting Party by Isabel Colegate.

💙📚Books read in August 2004. The Sally Hayden is essential reading in understanding how human migration operates. A Line In The World is a nice meditative exploration of the Danish coastline. South Riding was as good as I hoped it would be.
A stack of books: Revelations of Divine Love by Julian of Norwich, My Fourth Time, We Drowned by Sally Hayden, A Line In The World by Dorthe Nors, The Bookshop by Penelope Fitzgerald, South Riding by Winifred Holtby.

💙📚 Books I read in July 2024. Not sure which was my favourite; they were all good. Business As Usual was surprisingly funny. I expect to be getting through more Drabble and Spark in the near future.
