I always wanted it to be a bat-symbol under there...

A young boy with a bat painted on his face like a domino mask.

And then as a young adult, this is what we got. So it was downhill for a bit...

By the time I was a teenager, the live action DCU looked like this, also Ross art.

Chris Reeve Superman, Lynda Carter Wonder Woman, Michael Keaton Batman and John Wesley Shipp Flash, as painted by Alex Ross.

And this was the DCU. Looks better cuz Alex Ross painted it, though.

I'm so old, this was the MCU when I was a kid.

The 1970's live action Spider-Man, Hulk, Dr. Strange (not Doctor but Dr.) and Captain America.

Frank Langella was utterly awesome as Skeletor, also.

Apropos of nothing, I figured I'd talk about the 1987 He-Man movie. I didn't really play with the toys and barely watched the cartoon. But when I saw the designs for the movie, I got excited. Granted, the final film wasn't as great as the designs, but still, I liked it.

That's the Sonar suit. The Panther suit is the one he wears up until the ending, when he uses the Sonar suit prototype.

Corenswet reminds me of Kirk Alyn more than any other interpretation. The mop of curly hair, the loose fitting suit, the aw-shucks demeanor are very similar.

Miracle Monday is absolutely epic. Maggin writes Superman better than anyone and manages to completely shut down the whole 'Supes is too powerful' argument and celebrate his no-kill rule at the same time. Kristen Wells is, of course, the future Superwoman.

This still rings true and is especially apt right now...

There were TWO "Reigns of Terror,"
if we would but remember it and consider it; the one wrought murder in hot passion, the other in heartless cold blood; the one lasted mere months, the other had lasted a thousand years; the one inflicted death upon ten thousand persons, the other upon a hundred millions; but our shudders are all for the “horrors” of the minor Terror, the momentary Terror, so to speak; whereas, what is the horror of swift death by the axe, compared with lifelong death from hunger, cold, insult, cruelty, and heart-break? What is swift death by lightning compared with death by slow fire at the stake? A city cemetery could contain the coffins filled by that brief Terror which we have all been so diligently taught to shiver at and mourn over; but all France could hardly contain the coffins filled by that older and real Terror—that unspeakably bitter and awful Terror which none of us has been taught to see in its vastness or pity as it deserves."
~ Mark Twain, A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court

I realized today what it was the new Superman suit reminds me of. The first live action Superman, Kirk Alyn.

My favorite depiction of Supergirl's suit post-Crisis was this. I still like the idea of full leggings. Kryptonians shouldn't dress like strippers. They're above it. Her suit should match Kal's.

Does Muskrat wearing his kid like a mink wrap remind anyone of the Dead Zone ending?
