East of Eden is my next classic to be read. Aiming for 1 chapter a day in order to keep it slow and to take it all in #booksky 🖋️📚💙

Second 5⭐️ read this year came from Guadalupe Nettel’s ‘Still Born’ brought to my attention thanks to Dua Lipa’s Service95 book club. A beautiful read with sad and emotional moments but the way the author approaches these moments invokes feelings of hope rather than sadness. #booksky 🖋️📚💙

A Kindle showing the cover of the book Still born by Guadalupe Nettel. The cover is in black and white and details just the title and author. No images.

White Nights Review: It was a middle of the road read for me. I would say it’s worth giving a go as it’s so short and it seems to be a love it or hate it sort of book. I actually thought Bobok (which is a short story at the end of my copy) had better potential and was very witty 🖋️📚💙

Enjoying seeing the sun from my car this lunchtime and hoping to finish White Nights whilst I’m here 🖋️📚💙

No reading done today unfortunately. Dostoyevsky will have to wait until tomorrow 🖋️📚💙 Did start a major house sort out though that is currently in the stage where it gets worse before it gets better….

Started a classic tonight… White Nights by Dostoyevsky. It’s been doing the rounds for years on booktok/book tube so I’m looking forward to understanding why it’s a popular classic as well as keeping my promise to broaden my literary horizons. Watch this space! #booksky

Today is the day I’ve decided I’m going to clean and reorganise my bookshelf. Previously organised by colour, now moving into organising by genre. Is this the book organising equivalent to becoming an adult? #booksky

Sitting in the sun, in the garden, reading, is a top tier activity. Only bested by doing the same thing but at the beach imo #booksky

Still in the middle of two other books but thought I’d spend the afternoon in the garden reading this short one - “Grief is the thing with feathers” 🐦‍⬛ Garden is a mess from building work but that isn’t going to stop me enjoying the beautiful weather! 🌞 #booksky

Just finished Kaos on Netflix and it wasn’t perfect but it was very very good. I think it’s been a while since I’ve seen a show with such a large cast of characters and not got bored of one or two storylines. I hope Charlie Covell finds a new home for the show! #tvsky

How many books do you think you’ve got on your physical TBR without going to count them? My instinct is about 75 but I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s 100-and-something 😬 #booksky #physicalTBR

Always hated Tuedays in school then had a reprieve throughout uni and my twenties and now I’m in a job where they are THE WORST. Dreaming of being at home with my book and a cuppa and not shoving down my lunch in 5 mins 🙃

Finished up ‘My year of rest and relaxation” via audiobook. I saw another review say they can’t decide if they love it or hate it and I think that’s where I’m at. I did settle in to the annoying accents on the audiobook in the end and actually felt it ended up complementing the text #booksky

I really appreciate all the International Women’s Day posts but what I would like to see is more men getting involved in highlighting women injustices. Addressing the problems women face, benefits everyone #iwd #internationalwomensday

Honestly some of the AI content around now is wild. I find the Harry Potter content most disturbing. Alan Rickman must be turning in his grave seeing videos of himself saying “Daddy”.

How does everyone manage to balance full time work, life admin and reading? I really struggle to decompress enough to concentrate on reading. I’ve tried during my lunch break, in the evening and at bedtime and still haven’t found that balance. Send tips please #booksky

I’ve also started ‘My year of rest and relaxation’ as an audiobook. I had the book sat on my shelf for years but needed something new to put on in the car. I’m not sure how everyone else feels but I have a feeling the American accent is going to grate on me so much I won’t find it ‘funny’ #booksky

Do we have any siardwyr Cymraeg on Bluesky? #welshsky I went to a first language Welsh school, spent 10 years not really speaking it and now in a job where it is celebrated. Just had my first meeting fully in the language of Welsh and trying to not beat myself up over how awkward I sounded.

Sometimes I like to play a really sad game when I think of all the creative projects I could work on and how many incredible books I could read I didn’t have to have a job that loves to hijack all my brain capacity and rob me of my reason for being on this floating rock in space.

I have also not long finished Orbital via audiobook. This was another fantastic book and without having read the other nominees, I can see why it won the Booker prize. Beautiful descriptions, very subtle plot, induced a bit of an existential crisis #booksky 4.5⭐️
