This post is about screenwriting, but it's totally relevant for writing stories, too. A must-read for writers! www.finaldraft.com/blog/masteri...

Good morning to Brazilian reporter Manuela Borges, who’s been waiting eleven years for this petty moment. ❤️ 🇧🇷

While a senior business student at JMU, Jason Miyares took the time to pen this op ed in The Breeze about how safe zones for LGBT students were "offensive." #election #virginia #jayjones

The @nationals.com just played YMCA at the game, fueling my growing rage at them. But the number of people who did not dance or participate filled me with hope.

Believe it or not, I have one more from @theprinceandagcd.rwrb.social's masterpiece, "love thorns all over this rose"! I really wanted to do their photo booth pics from the end, but decided to have fun with it and try a totally diferent style. Hope you like! #rwrb #firstprince

A series of 4 chibi images where Alex and Henry are shown doing these four poses in order: They smush their cheeks together and grin as the camera goes off the first time. For their second photo, Alex holds up his wand and points at Henry’s crown, eyes wide as Henry looks at him and smirks. On their third, Alex grabs Henry’s jaw and kisses his cheek, making Henry laugh right as the booth flashes. They’re both giggling, and then Henry is leaning in to kiss Alex’s lips for their final picture.

Who's this "we"? We didn't vote for this. A lot of idiots did, but the vote flipping software voted this in.

Jamie ❤️🤍💙 @stellarmeadow.bsky.social · 08/07/2025

I will also say this. The person who makes it easy for you to understand how their experience applies is also likely to make it easier for you to understand what they want to do and how they can help in the day to day. If that makes sense

Jamie ❤️🤍💙 @stellarmeadow.bsky.social · 08/07/2025

Politics is just marketing a person and ideals - it's actually one of the areas I consult in, but I'm on the marketing side of things, not policy or day to day, so still different

Jamie ❤️🤍💙 @stellarmeadow.bsky.social · 08/07/2025

It sounds like you were a very conscientious hiring manager, too. 😀 But for most hiring managers, I've found that if they can't look at your skill set and instantly say, "Oh, this is exactly how that applies to what I need," they're going on to the next resume.

100

Jamie ❤️🤍💙 @stellarmeadow.bsky.social · 08/07/2025

If I couldn't trust you to market yourself, how could I trust you to market my products, you know?

110

Jamie ❤️🤍💙 @stellarmeadow.bsky.social · 08/07/2025

Not necessarily. I think it depends in part on the industry or the position you're hiring for. In my case, a lot of the positions I was hiring for were marketing. So that cover letter and how it was positioned and the way it thinks about the audience, the audience being me, was super important.

110

Jamie ❤️🤍💙 @stellarmeadow.bsky.social · 08/07/2025

(I hate those ads. "Pay me money and I'll show you how I got rich doing Xyz!" Dude, I know how you got rich - by selling hack advice on doing xyz, not successfully doing XYZ...)

110

Jamie ❤️🤍💙 @stellarmeadow.bsky.social · 08/07/2025

Oh, and this is not one of those really annoying ads for "pay me money and I will tell you how to land a job." I'm just saying if you have any questions or want any feedback, I'm here. Free. I swear! 😀

220

Jamie ❤️🤍💙 @stellarmeadow.bsky.social · 08/07/2025

I was good enough at it that I've now started my own consulting business, successfully landing plenty of plants using the same tactics that I used to land jobs. I'll get off my soap box now. But I'm also happy to provide any other tidbits or feedback or answer questions if it would help

210

Jamie ❤️🤍💙 @stellarmeadow.bsky.social · 08/07/2025

And one of the first things I did was go through the cover letter and count how many times the person used the word "I". Because I want the letter to be focused on what you can do for me, not on what you want/need

230

Jamie ❤️🤍💙 @stellarmeadow.bsky.social · 08/07/2025

As someone who had also hired staff for a couple of decades now, i can tell you that cover letters/emails were incredibly important to me at least. if you didn't nail that cover letter (or didn't include one) I never even read your resume

220

Jamie ❤️🤍💙 @stellarmeadow.bsky.social · 08/07/2025

Honestly the biggest challenge and applying for any job, even if you have experience in the industry is making sure that it's really easy for the employer to see how your experience translates

130

Jamie ❤️🤍💙 @stellarmeadow.bsky.social · 08/07/2025

Oh man, sympathy and luck for all of you - switching industries is rough! I remember sitting with job descriptions, going line by line to point out specific experience I had that applied to each bullet for my cover emails to point out how what I had done was relevant over and over... 🫂

Yes, I'm back again with another drawing from the amazing "love thorns all over this rose" by @theprinceandagcd.rwrb.social This is from the epilogue. I couldn't resist drawing just one more dance from (definitely, absolutely, positively not the) prom. #rwrb #firstprince

More art inspired by the beautiful "love thorns all over this rose" by @theprinceandagcd.rwrb.social - this one from chapter 10 #rwrb #firstprince #alexxhenry #fanart

Alex and Henry are standing in front of a counter, upon which a white vase sits with a bouquet of red roses inside it. The back of Henry's index and middle fingers are caressing Alex's cheek, while Alex has a hand wrapped around Henry's wrist as the two men smile at each other.

So @theprinceandagcd.rwrb.social has been posting the amazing "love thorns all over this rose" and in the first chapter there was this: "He even gets Henry to dance in the middle of the kitchen floor once, his large palms framing Alex's waist...." Which made me do this #firstprince #rwrbfanart

Henry and Alex are dancing together in a kitchen
