NGRI verdicts do not liberate people— they simply transfer you from one carceral system (prison) to another (psychiatric confinement). The underlying logic (dangerousness justifies containment) remains untouched while individuals are reshaped as psychiatric subjects who must be treated indefinitely.

Two things can be true at once: 1) The government should never be in control of our access to any meds, including psych meds. 2) Psych meds have damaged & harmed many people in devastating ways. That is not a conspiracy theory from the government. That is our reality as psychiatric survivors.

1) The government should never be in control of our access to any medications, including psychiatric medications.

2) Psychiatric medications have damaged and harmed many people in devastating ways.

That is not a conspiracy theory from the government. That is our reality as psychiatric survivors.

The state should never control access to psychiatric medications AND psychiatrized people deserve agency, informed consent, and the dignity of our histories of harm and psychiatric abuse not being erased.

As consumers of psychiatric drugs, we deserve honest and transparent conversations about why and how they work (and further, what we even mean by "work"), the risks and side effects involved, what other options are available, and how to get off if and when we want to.
