Steffn @steffnw.bsky.social · 27/09/2026My backyard thrashers don't make so nearly eerie a sound, but they're none-the-less delightful to see. 000
Steffn @steffnw.bsky.social · 16/08/2026People are saying... Trump and Hegseth are proposing some new medals for the USS Lincoln crew. (And please save any faux indignation about respecting the sailors: I was one, for six years including both a Vietnam Nam tour and sailing into the Gulf of Oman. Sailors have a sardonic sense of humor.) 020

Steffn @steffnw.bsky.social · 29/07/2026Public estimation in MSM would improve if, in cases like the following, they pushed back a bit more: When Trump said "Do you know something I don't know?", the reporter simply should've said "yes." And if pressed for what, she should have said "I know that you advisors are lying to you." 120
Steffn @steffnw.bsky.social · 19/05/2026My porch plants in bloom. These are "legacy" plants (and "volunteers") from relatives long passed. 020
Steffn @steffnw.bsky.social · 04/05/2026Took a while for me to figure out it was a file format problem. Evidently Bluesky won't accept Apple HEVC. After trying a few converters, I found one that works, sort of: iMovie 2102
Steffn @steffnw.bsky.social · 04/05/2026I don't have a camera inside my birdhouse, but just this morning I see that my starlings have fledged. 🙂 100
Steffn @steffnw.bsky.social · 04/05/2026I would like to see a picture of your cat on a black velvet blanket in dim light. This is my brother's cat—probably 142nd cousins. 010
Steffn @steffnw.bsky.social · 24/04/2026Look what just visited my backyard! (Still there now!) 25 years here and I've never seen one. Google Lens suggests it's a Green Heron. That is one patient bird: we watched each other for an hour. 😆 (I tried to load videos, but Bluesky refused.) 130
Steffn @steffnw.bsky.social · 19/04/2026Anyone know what these are? Found a dozen in dad's garden—different sizes, leathery, very slimy on the inside except for the white strips which were tough as cartilage. Google Lens suggested reptile egg or stinkhorn mushroom. There's no odor (yet). I think they're alien eggs. 020
Steffn @steffnw.bsky.social · 30/03/2026Harvest their seed pods and spread their joy. They have really high germination rate. I planted 9 in the front yard; two years later I had 100s 😊 1150
Steffn @steffnw.bsky.social · 23/03/2026@thedavidpakmanshow.bsky.social David, in your Monday 3/23 show, you stated that Trump's quoting a CNN poll that said he has 100% support is "totally false." But... 000
Steffn @steffnw.bsky.social · 21/03/2026This is the "home" tree they were abandoning. This hole is about 6' above the ground. The trail to their new tree was about 20' 040
Steffn @steffnw.bsky.social · 21/03/2026I don't think these guys migrate every year, but they were definitely migrating from one tree to another. 140
Steffn @steffnw.bsky.social · 01/03/2026Pigeon showering in the small solar fountain I originally set up for my hummingbirds (who do stop by to drink on the wing). But the pigeons have really taken to coming by and bathing several times a day. 181

Steffn @steffnw.bsky.social · 29/01/2026Rock pigeons frequently visit my backyard, but this morning I noticed one had white 'leggings.' I couldn't tell if they were feathers or something else. Ideas? 100
Steffn @steffnw.bsky.social · 20/01/2026Trump lied about the Insurrection Act: 4 POTUS invoked it, 8% not 48%; and Bush invoked it once, not 28 times 192
Steffn @steffnw.bsky.social · 20/01/2026The wild rabbits that visit my backyard have taken to eating the seed I leave out for the birds. This morning I saw one of the birds, while attempting a landing, bonk one of the rabbits in the head. No one was harmed. 😁 020
