Pete DeBoer liked the #Isles defense tonight: “I thought Tony DeAngelo's best game he's played here this year. I thought it was Pulock's best game this year so far. I thought Stan was excellent. Schaefer and Pelech are consistently excellent every night.”

050

#Isles beat #Blackhawks 4-1. Strong game from start to finish.

070

Have to think Horvat is in concussion protocol. #Isles

Horvat is going down the tunnel. #Isles

Nazar gets a 5-min match misconduct for an illegal check to the head. #Isles

130

It was Nazar who hit Horvat, elbow to the head. #Isles

000

Bo Horvat ENG with 1:32 to go in the third. Bertuzzi hits him and #Isles jump him. Pageau Superman punch and then tackles Bertuzzi.

Frank Nazar ends Ilya Sorokin's shutout streak. 3-1 #Isles now with 2:32 to go in the third.

000

7:23 to go in the third. #Isles up 3-0 over #Blackhawks.

Sorokin, again, at the top of his crease. Holds onto a wrister with 14:11 to go in the third. #Isles up 3-0.

#Isles up 3-0 after two periods. Heineman and Duclair with the goals this period. Down 16-13 in shots but that's not what counts.

Have to love how structured Sorokin has been tonight. Executing his positioning. Getting square to every shot. Out at the top of his crease. Tracking the pucks, meaning no rebounds. #Isles

040

Scott Mayfield picks off a pass in the crease, and then he busts his ass to get up the ice. Almost scores on a rebound try. 3:58 to go in the second. #Isles up 3-0.

000

Eklund just made the move that made LeBron James cry (IYKYK). #Isles

000

Stanley slides to block a cross-crease pass. #Isles

000

Mayfield for interference with 7:42 to go in the second. #Isles

000

With the primary assist on Duclair's goal, Stanley now has 3 assists over his first four games with #Isles.

Schaefer may not be good at golf but man his chip game on the ice is amongst the best in the league. It's what led to Duclair breakaway try before goal. #Isles

030

#Isles taking advantage on weak line changes by #Blackhawks.

Anthony Duclair. 3-0 #Isles with 10:22 to go in the second. He got hooked on a breakaway but NYI maintained possession. Duclair found Pageau, who turned and fed Stanley. Stanley then found Duclair wide open for a one-time finish. No-look pass by Stanley. Very Schaefer-esque by Stanley.

Such a high IQ play by Maccelli to buy time and then such a high IQ play by Horvat to continue to drive to the net, pulling #Blackhawks D with him giving Heineman time and space to let it rip. #Isles

Maccelli skid-stops, hits Heineman in the high slot. Heineman beats Soderblom blocker side. 2-0 #Isles with 13:16 to play in the second.

After review, no goal. Can't tell from replay if it went in. #Isles

Smith backhands a puck and Sorokin makes a save but slides into his net. Was close. Refs say no goal. League taking a look at it. #Isles

000

Schaefer with a tremendous play to break up a 2-on-1 on the backcheck early in the second. #Isles

Matthew Schaefer earns his third assist of the season with the primary assist on Bo Horvat's goal. #Isles

030

Schaefer shot goes off Soderblom's right pad and Horvat takes out the trash. Good screen by Palmieri in front. #Isles

Bo Horvat. His third PPG of the season. #Isles up 1-0 with 57.0 to go in the first.

030

It's been a penalty-filled first period. #Isles going back to the PP as Moore goes off for hooking with 1:02 to go in the first. No score.

000

Cizikas stopped by Soderblom while on a shorthanded breakaway. #Isles

000

#Isles get on a rush but have six guys on the ice. Duclair will sit for it with 4:56 to go in the first. Good news was that all six got up the ice. Bad news is that's very illegal.

000

#Isles get hemmed again after a few flubs on breakouts. Schaefer doesn't get o-zone time because of it.

000

Eklund is always moving his feet. Doesn't take a second off. #Isles

000

#Isles get the kill. #Blackhawks couldn't connect on two backdoor tries where they got inside position.

000

#Isles to the PK as Duclair goes off for goalie interference with 12:34 to go in the first.

000

#Isles can't score on their PP. Schenn with a strong shot but Soderblom got his glove on it. Duclair in low slot fed Ritchie for a one-timer but the pass was a bit soft and so was the shot. Soderblom got over to get his pad on it.

000

#Isles PP1: Schaefer-Ritchie-Schenn-Horvat-Palmieri

000

#Isles going to the PP with 14:37 to go in the first. Kaiser for hooking. Schenn drew it off a rush chance.

No Mathew Barzal at #Isles morning skate. The plan was for him to skate on his own today, so we'll ask for an update. Everyone else accounted for (No Romanov, obviously).
