Of course I could be wrong and the PL could be squeaky clean, honest and consistent with every single club, even those big 2 or 3 that bring in around 80% of the PLs wealth from abroad. And of course, money never corrupts ,so there could be no problems in the richest league in the world.

The leak now means that discussions between City & PL on how the handle the ramifications for City AND the PL and reach an agreement are now closed. I think that's why there's anger at the leak. So Khaldoon now on war footing & says there is a LONG way to go. He has plenty that he wants to say.

You can't win an appeal on the basis that other clubs break the rules as well. You are admitting you broke the rules. Case closed. But you can take separate, independent action against an organisation that is operating in a potentially fraudulent way that could open up a criminal investigation.

... had also broken these rules but had only decided to charge City. How would you feel about that? Angry that City had broken rules? Angry that the other club wasn't charged? Or angry at the whole process of singling out City, angry at the PL itself? The appeal may not be the end of this

Interesting response from Khaldoon. The completely innocent statement is meaningless: they are as innocent as other major clubs. The fair and partial aspects are very interesting. Imagine if the PL was aware of another major club that had systematically and significantly broken rules...

He's taking the PL down, isn't he? I bet he knows the illegal shit that goes on elsewhere and he's going to burn down the whole fucking corrupt organisation that is the PL. Go get 'em, man www.theguardian.com/football/202...

The City case shows that no one will ever be allowed to challenge the so called big 4. They are so far ahead financially, having done exactly what City did, that it simply isn't possible to catch up without a level of investment forbidden by PL. If you try, they will fucking get you.

These rules were brought in to stop City. They didn't exist before 2008. Owners should have spent 100s of £ms fighting the unjustness of the rules in 2008 instead of accepting them and then apparently hiding their non-compliance. One approach = total respect Other = shame & ignomy

They are but the impact of one on the other is profoundly critical - as i expect we'll see. Reputation, viability, players, physical structure, youth teams etc. Make no mistake the impact of the board could see the club close. I don't think it will, however. Superleague here we come?

Stephen Carey @stcarey.bsky.social · 25/09/2026
Wow. City guilty! Leaving aside that the rules broken were unfair in themselves, if you know the rules you have to follow them. If City haven't followed them in a serious way then frankly they deserve what's coming. Only question now is will the owners take the Premier League down with them?

Let's see what grievous injustices Arteta observed today. Wonder if we should fear for the future of football, if officials are going to allow #Arsenal to be fucking mullered?

And we have a Government that is on the side of the thugs. Not a single fucking word from Burnham or a senior Cabinet Member in defence of the RNLI. Shameful.

How the fuck are the poor little dears suppose to compete if they start giving penalties for blatant fouls in the box? Does Pro Ref not know how much Arsenal rely on this to win games? www.theguardian.com/football/202...

No mention that Maresca was Guardiola's asst when City won the Champions League. Gotta count for something. However, key issue for City is how quickly new players, new approach gels www.theguardian.com/football/202...

Luis Enrique, Vincent Kompany and Mikel Arteta are among the favourites to lead their sides to victory, but more recent appointments should not be counted out

There are many people who can and should do this. It will then help local authorities to support those who can't. It's good advice but its not enough on its own. We need more on medicines, heat/light, power for emergency buildings, awareness of the most vulnerable etc. But it's a start.

FFS, it all stems from the ridiculous Profit & Sustainability Rules designed to protect the richest clubs against competition. Sell & it helps with PSR immediately, buy and it impacts over the length of the contract. So they trade players between English clubs. www.theguardian.com/football/202...

Agree, don't fuck it up - just spend same per capita in the North on transport, infrastructure, etc. 73 MPs in London out of 650 - fuck it up for the 85% of MPs outside London and the knock on effects will make it even worse for Labour.

Never, never let the manager choose the player to buy. That is Viana's job and no one else's. Thats how Utds decline started with each manager coming in and picking the players they wanted for their unique style. 8 managers later they are loaded with overpriced shite.

But it is beautiful, just beautiful to know that he is so eaten up inside, so full of hatred, so frightened of dissent that he can never, ever have a moment of happiness. Every single second of every single day, he is consumed by hatred and fear. What a comforting thought.

Bouaddi, Anderson identified long ago. Fernando is one Maresca wanted from when he came in. That's close to £350m on those 3 alone. Getting £250m for those who want to go is good business. Allan plus one/two more are squad players. Sooner would have been nice but they've stuck to their plan.
