nexusmods.com/monsterhunterwilds/mods/3208 Wild and Tame Kitsune is ready to go (I think...)! Please let me know if anything is wrong like an incorrect variation. It's hard to keep up with it all but I double-checked everything. GLHF

It definitely helps ease the burden of playing at a locked 30fps/1440p on a 3070 lol

Fluff: I got carried away with the mesh deformers and expanded the tail before it got ridiculous. This with the cat ears actually make for a good squirrel/raccoon shape. This was mostly just a stupid idea and I figured why not ship it lol

Wolf: Tall, upward ears. Inverted tail shape. Thin at the base, wider at the end Cat: Small ears. Thin tail all the way through

Kitsune: The Original Down: Kitsune but with ears down Yae Miko style

Wild and Tame mesh differences. Mostly to ears and base of the tail

Wild & Tame Kitsune is finished! Next weekend is for prep, packaging, screenshots, uploading, etc. File variations include: Physics for tail and ears, black and white color tips, and mesh differences.

I also discovered wind parameters and emissive make for a great flame effect! (Intensity and emissive are affected by area winds and lighting so be careful what values you set as the environment changes) Also RIP bozo

Broke up the ears so they could have different colors and enabling, so you could do stuff like this. I've wasted half a day playing with MDF-XL lol

Statyk @statyk.bsky.social · 10/08/2025

If you'd prefer a simpler approach, don't worry! I'll include all black and all white tips as a toggleable option and in-game dye works as follows: Alpha Dye - Hair and 30% to ear tufts Beta Dye - Inner skin MDF-XL is mostly for the tryhards. It will also allow you to make parts glow if needed.

Forgot to update here again! Further Kitsune update: Instead of making 100 different color/model variations, I've decided to cut up the model so it can be customized further with MDF-XL for all your OC needs. I've also separated the ears into left and right for asymmetrical coloring and disabling.

Here's a preview of the complete physics in motion with angle limits that prevent collapse and clipping, gravity, and a fun look at how much it matches the seikret's tail movement! Next session will be working on materials and textures. Lots to do...

This weekend, I got proper physics set up with tail wag and ear flick options. Last week's video didn't have any of this, it was just so wiggly that it looked like it did lol

MHWilds Kitsune updates! Forgot to post here... Last week, I got the new model prepped and imported (no materials; basic rig and chain set up)

There's also quite a bit more detail in the ears themselves like stippled normals on the skin and small hair strands overlapping into the ear. I didn't care to put much effort into that on the original 😅

A big difference in Wilds compared to World is the hair is significantly more refined and high poly with narrow hair planes. My old model was too low poly to fit with the new visuals and looked "cheap" on the player. Akko's models are a little over 4x the vertexes lol

MHWilds Kitsune mod update: @/Akinusuka has finished with the model remake with Wild and Tamed versions! I've placed them here in Blender with hair that more closely matches. I plan to make shape and color variations like I did with Rise so it'll still be some time!

One thing I always wanted to do was make a Wild version and a Refined version. It was made for myself when I used the big messy ponytail. It doesn't quite suit the brushed and clean hairstyles. The refined version would look more like that and less fluffy.

Yes of course! That's where the video is from. This is just me testing the asset pipeline and I'm thinking of redoing it some more again because the level of detail doesn't quite match the level of detail in Wilds hair. But there's still a lot to learn and waiting for tools to develop. Soon™
