Why was Pink Pony Club the song stuck in my head all throughout my oncology appointment yesterday?

The SHARON clinical trial is stem cell rescue for metastatic pancreatic & HER2-negative breast cancers w/ BRCA1/2 or PALB2 mutations. My stem cell rescue in 1999 is looking like it was worth it. Maybe it has been my “secret” all along #BRCA #MetastaticCancer #ClinicalTrials #StemCellRescue #mbc

In other news, my tumor markers are slowly dropping, PET scan looks okay to my layman’s eyes, but I’ll get the Dr view on Tuesday. Which happens to be my last appointment with her bcuz she is effing leaving! 😩 I’m a sad oddity

I’m having a salad for lunch. Wish me luck 😳 (For reference I’m on Verzenio, main side effect diarrhea proceeded by intense abdominal cramps, the kind that make you rock and uncontrollably say “ow ow ow fucking ow” out loud. This happens approximately 4-5 days a week. Sometimes at 2am.)

Yes, it will definitely help with communicating what you want if the doctors aren’t being helpful.

In case you don’t about it already, there is a website called Not Putting On A Shirt that has tons of info, including a list of flat friendly surgeons (I think it all US based, I’m not sure where you are)

I’ve found that it hurts less if I stand (because I’ve got other physical issues), so I’ve got a tall table I use. But it means I can only do short sessions which is extremely frustrating. 😭

Thanks! I stopped for a long time due to degenerative disc’s in my neck and shoulder dysfunction. But I’m carefully starting again. I even won 2nd in the little art show I entered that piece in, so that was an unexpected surprise 😊

Yeah, it’s as if I don’t realize every day of my life that I’m living on borrowed time and there is a huge list of people I’ve met over the past 26 years who are now dead and I’m not.

I was joking (?) about the timing of it starting oh…around the 20th. 😏

I started Verzenio on January 1st, and was encouraged that I wasn’t having too many side effects. Fast forward and starting this week I have been plagued with the worst GI gut cramping, 2am bathroom sprints, eating Imodium like they’re Pez candies side effects. The timing makes me go hmmmmm 🤨

Does anyone else resist getting out of bed in the morning because they don’t want to acknowledge what their life has in store for them? Or is that just me? It can’t be just me.

Next scan is in abt 10 days. It’s was a regular 3 month scan, so the dr still wants to see what’s what. Little scared since I’ve had a total of 7weeks of no pills. At least the injections keep happening 😂

There are two more meds (same type) I can try. Apparently it’s not unusual for ppl to have to switch them up. The one I’m on is know for being hard on the liver. ☹️

The life of a MBC patient: it looks like my liver can’t tolerate Kisqali. This is the first time my body has said “nope” with its full chest (pun intended) While other treatments have been difficult, none of them have been a serious threat to my well being/life if continued. TBC tomorrow…

Elacestrant (Orserdu) monotherapy has people with ESR1 mutation who do really well and some who have rapid progression. Why?? IDK but we need biomarkers to figure this out!! #SABCS24

All I care about is that ALL post mastectomy options are presented in an equally valid way. What each person wants/needs will vary according to the individual and informed decisions are crucial.

Apparently some people have no issue with other people removing *some* healthy breast tissue (breast reduction) but removing the entire breast is tsk-tsked over. Key phrase: OTHER PEOPLE The point? You are not the one living in that meat suit, *they* are.

I didn’t say implants were the only option, but it’s not uncommon for there to be issues. Not everyone wants or is a candidate for tissue flap. There are many ppl who’ve had a single mastectomy that don’t like the asymmetry, so they want a bilateral. I think that is a valid reason.

How can you “not support flat closure”? Many women’s bodies reject implants and they go flat not by choice but by need.Or do you not support flat closure if someone prefers it?Or do you not support surgery as a treatment for breast cancer in general?I’m honestly curious why you wouldn’t “support” it

Fellow flattie here! If you’re ever on TikTok, I’ve got a lot of posts about clothing. And there’s a FB group called Fantastic Flat Fashions (if you’re not already on it) where people with all different shapes and styles and ages post their outfits.

That’s definitely an issue I’ve heard other people talk about. I’m not sure how it works with insurance these days, hopefully your doctors can work with you on your choice. If you have lobular, it’s more likely to be approved, but ductal is the more common type of breast cancer.

Statistical Oddity @statisticaloddity.bsky.social · 11/12/2024
True, but it’s still hard to sit on the other side of that silence after revealing something so vulnerable. Even an “oh no, that’s awful” type of response is enough to acknowledge it.

Managed to get thru last week with minimal stress and moderate fatigue. Here’s the question: is it the actual social interaction or my anxiety leading up to it that is the most fatigue inducing? Or just a fine mixture of both… 🥺
