Yeah, the fact both words have been being used to mean the same things is probably one of the reasons people don't understand critique anymore, because they think it is more difficult to explain when it's no longer a critique than it actually is.

What's the Difference?

Criticism and critique are two terms often used interchangeably, but they have distinct differences. Criticism typically involves pointing out flaws or negative aspects of a work, often with a judgmental tone. It focuses on identifying what is wrong or lacking in a piece of art, literature, or any other creative endeavor. On the other hand, critique is a more nuanced and constructive approach. It involves a thoughtful analysis of the strengths and weaknesses of a work, aiming to provide feedback that can help the creator improve their craft. Critique encourages a deeper understanding of the work's intentions and offers suggestions for enhancement, rather than simply highlighting its faults.

I'm so glad I got a real comment after, because four bot comments is real disheartening. Though it's funny how XxXxX hit the same fic twice.

Another hilarious find when just looking up "Valentino" on Tumblr, because I get both moth and fashion articles. And... this handbag. All I can think of is that it's a weapon.

@christacit.bsky.social I don't know if any of this helps. If you want to tell me your country, you can DM it to me and I'll send it to them with the screenshot you sent. If not, I totally understand that too.

"Cannot connect to the server" on every browser while other sites load usually means one of two things:

1. A filter on their network (school, office, parental controls, some ISPs) blocks the domain.
2. Broken IPv6 on their connection. Turning off IPv6 in the network settings, or just trying on mobile data, tells you quickly.

The fastest test: open the forum on the phone with wifi off. If that works, it's the home network. If you can send me the exact error text and which country they're in, I'll dig further.

Was on the top of my ideas' list~ I think this covers things for both creating and talking about

Creation
For discussing the act of making, or appreciating, things for Staticmoth. If discussing/sharing fic/art/whatever that isn't yours: share a link to where it is found. Do not repost anyone else's art or photos unless it is meant to be shared in such a way (like an event banner), because you wouldn't repost someone else's entire fic here.

Fic
For the written creations.

Art
For the drawn creations.

Cosplay
For costume creations.

Other Creations
For audio or crafts or other creations.

Events
Promote events you find for Staticmoth! Also individual events for Valentino or Vox, and any multi-ship/character/fandom events which we can stuff Staticmoth into.

Promotion
Do you do commissions? Do you have a store? Is Staticmoth one of your things you would do? Promote yourself here!

we replied to your message:

Yes, as of today. AI features are now OFF by default on every new forum: no recap, catch-up, draft-with-AI, character or NPC prompts anywhere, and no AI digest emails. Nothing gets generated and members never see a prompt.

If you already created a forum, turn it off under Forum settings → General → "AI features". It is a single switch for everything.

Thanks for flagging it. Good luck with the community.

#staticmoth #fankid #hazbinoc This is Venus! Born in 2024 (in character creation and in-universe). Created by me and my friend Borzoi. She is (usually) Vox and Valentino's firstborn. If you have any questions, please ask! (The (f) means "fictional" and not from Earth.)

You can change the settings to how close to first the tag is. It minimizes the works where the tag isn't within that range.

Example with the Valentino & Velvette tag, where my settings require for the searched tag to be in the first two relationship slots.

The hard questions! F: I read something where someone once said "but they don't deserve love!" And I got mad, because I realized I didn't think love was something someone had to deserve. People love for their own reasons. But it made me write this piece where Valentino realizes how Vox loves him.

“Loving me unconditionally—” Val’s voice broke. “No matter what I’ve ever done… you’ve always loved me?”

Vox blinked. “Well… yes?”

“Why?”

It felt too raw to explain it. Especially as Vox had spent plenty of time cursing himself for those feelings. But Val was pleading, his own hands balled up against himself, and he realized that (for the first time in a long time) he was seeing Val at a complete loss. Completely wrecked by this single thought.

By unconditional love. Vox had often wished he could put a condition on his, but nothing described the feeling better, did it?

“That’s the point. I just do.”

“But… but… I have all these reasons I love you!” Val exclaimed, tugging at his ruff.

Vox took his hands before Val could start plucking. This was really bothering him. “That’s fine, Val. It’s okay.”

“How can you love me for no reason?”

“I didn’t say there was no reason.”

“I didn’t say there was no reason.”

“Then isn’t that conditional?”

Vox was at a loss. Love really meant different things to different people. No wonder Val hadn’t understood it before. Vox wondered how he ever had. “No. It’s just… you.”

With a sob, Val pushed him down into the couch. Vox met his mouth with his own, just as desperate to push inside Val as Val was to slip his tongue inside him. It was searing, as if Val branded him with every inch.

Gasping for breath and head spinning, Vox managed to say more. “You just… drive me crazy. Always have. I can’t get enough. I never could.”
